The bounty system has been around MCSG for a very long time. It was one of the earliest features implemented into the servers. As much as I love it, today I want to argue change: :p

So basically Gravey4rd is closing in on 4000 wins. An accomplishment that would take me decades xD. Anyway, seeing as a leader board reset is very unlikely and that most people have no hope to catch up to the powerhouses at the top of the leaders boards, I think removing the bounty system would give people something else to play for: points.

This is something that I have been conflicted with for a while because on one hand I am a fan of the bounty system, but on the other hand playing is not as fun as it was a year and a half ago when you knew it was possible for anyone to get to #1 on the leader boards. If we could play for points as well as wins then it would be possible for anyone to get #1 on any given day. (If there were a point leader boards, I think this would be cool.)

So basically my idea in a nut shell is: We remove the bounty system so having a lot of points would actually mean something. We create a point leader boards so people could see where their amount of points rank among everyone else's. That way people have something more to play for (that would constantly be changing) than the far fetched idea of catching up to the ones with nearly 4k wins. :p

To my understanding, points were never meant to be taken competitively; they were supposed to be a trademark of your progress. Players decided to take them competitively, and other players decided not to care.

To be fair, I do not think the bounty system should be removed or modified, and it is likely it will not be. As I said, points are not meant to be a part of the competitive scheme of the game. Some players play competitively, and others play for fun. I feel the game is already competitive enough (as is evidenced by the growing rate of 'eZ' messages, hackers, and others alike), and is slowly losing it's 'simple and fun' factor. Sure, many players find playing competitively fun, but others do not, and I find no reason to change it.

Of course, most players will never reach the top of the leaderboards - it's been held by Gravey4rd for a long time now. As we all know, a stat reset won't happen. Anyways, I feel these 'powerhouse' players should be enough incentive for any player to push for wins. Obviously, these top-tier players will very likely not be passed, but is it not a nice thought to ponder, "Man! Imagine if I could catch so-and-so in wins?" They act as inspiration for you to try and play good; in other terms, they could serve as the push some players may need.

I understand your points. All I was saying is that a legit point system would allow the average player to competitively play for a goal that is realistic for any player, not just those with 1500+ wins.

I really like this idea. What I would really love to see would be a complete points reset - due to the points glitch and bountying, people's points are pretty warped and too high. I remember when I first started, points mattered so much and I remember killing someone with 7000 points and going absolutely mental. It definitely added something to the game. Nowadays, points mean absolutely nothing - I always keep enough just to be able to sponsor friends, and the rest doesn't really matter to me - they might as well get removed.

So ya, I support this idea.

HOWEVER: One big problem exists. If you look at the hive, where points really matter, there is a lot of targeting for them, which ruins the experience for some people and makes it hard for many to play without getting chased off corn. I do remember being for my points ages ago, and it was pathetic and made me quit for a while.
