No offense but... did you post a picture of yourself just to get more people to Skype you? lol.

No offense taken, I think it's nice to know who it is your actually talking to on the other side. It's been kind of funny when I team up with a 9 year old, and their friends are asking how old I am and start giggling. Just looking for chill, perhaps 'older' people to Skype with and team up and play MCSG.
And, none of my friends play Minecraft. Ha.

Hey missxlauren!

There's definitely older people who play this game, but truthfully a fair portion of us don't actually end up expanding our circles of friends just due to the way we play (if you're already in a call of chat with friends, you're not as likely to be looking for friends - you're already with them!).

Now with that being said, there are a few ways that you can meet some of the awesome people in this community and enjoy yourself - it all depends on what works for you!
  1. For the US region, Hub 8 is a great way to meet people - it's the most populated and thus the most sociable hub on the network (they also call it the "party hub"). If you're unfamiliar with the MCGamer hubs, try connecting to us.mcgamer.net (you can change the hub you're in by right-clicking the Nether Star in the last slot on your hotbar and selecting a hub to enter). The hubs aren't game servers, but rather a way to connect to them - you can connect to every server in the US region just from that one address!
  2. The second way (and a way that I strongly recommend) is by connecting to MCGamer's Official TeamSpeak server. TeamSpeak is a voice communication program that allows you to connect to different chat rooms and talk to people. Truthfully it takes a little while to get used to, but after a while you'll be able to navigate it just as easily as you would Skype. MCGamer's TeamSpeak is a great way to get to know people in our community; there's almost always people playing games that you can freely join, Staff members are always available if there's a problem, and they even host community-orientated events such as Open Mic Night (an event where anyone is open to sing) and Community Focus groups where you can ask Staff members questions about the community.
  3. The final way of getting to know people is exactly what you're doing now - asking people to add you on Skype in-game or on the forums!
No matter what option you choose, you're bound to meet some awesome new people! Personally, I'd recommend options 1 and 2 - they're what ultimately led me to becoming a Staff member (unfortunately not now, but in the past) and then moving on to the clan scene. If you're uncomfortable randomly joining channels to talk to people on TeamSpeak, I'd recommend you start with option 1 and then gradually progress to talking to people you meet in Hub 8! They're a talkative bunch!

And if someone already hasn't, welcome to MCGamer! If you need any help with something, don't be afraid to ask - someone's probably got the answer! I hope you enjoy your time here! :D

drama on a server where people just get together and play some video games? seems silly.
There is a crap ton of drama for some silly reason but I feel like you just have to deal with it. Ignore the trolls and don't let people's comments ruin your time at MCSG like it did for me. Just have fun, breathe and remember it's just a game. If you find the right friends on MCSG, you'll bond over much more than just this game. Think karaoke nights, omgPOP, movie viewing, Plug DJ and actual real life stuff. I genuinely hope you find good friends and have a fun experience here, you seem cool. I'd be your friend but I'm actually a lame twelve year old girl that no one likes xD

I didn't mean anything bad by the '9 year old' comment! I just have had some interesting Skype encounters with some younger kids. Haha, but you seem cool, you like Dan and Phil! :)

Dan and Phil are amazing. I won't write a paragraph on how much they mean to me right now even though I want to xD. I've had interesting Skype encounters with people older than me xD But yeah, maybe we should be friends :)
