Chat moderators

So, I decided to have a game of sg on AU servers hoping that maybe, just maybe it wont be a toxic environment tonight.... after all it's Friday, people should be happy sadly I was wrong.... I logged into my first game and this is what I saw: blatant racism, abusive arguing (bypassing filter) swearing (also bypassing filter) name calling etc. yuck!!! made me just want to quit, not a nice place to be at all. So I came up with a thought, don't know if it's been proposed before, but what is people's opinion on having ingame chat moderators? as sometimes mods are too busy to deal with these issues.... I am looking forward to seeing your opinions

hmm i don't know.. some people could be given some abilities to mute players if they applied / were trusted.. but it would be difficult to find these people as most of them would be prepared to be a full mod c:

True, I agree with you, just putting it out there I just wish there was some way we could make the community (ingame) nicer and not so unwelcoming to new people :/

I understand your reason for wanting this completely, the problem is we just don't have enough staff/man power to make this happen, there just simply is too many servers for people to moderate, it would take hundreds of mods to moderate US servers alone.
And I know what you're probably thinking "Just hire helpers or more mods to do it"
If only it were that easy, the Sr Mods/Admins/ even Devs sit in for interviews just to get a couple done when they can, they have busy lives just like everyone else and have other things to do as Sr Mod than doing interviews all day every day!
I hope you see where I'm coming from with this.

Also I'll take this chance to remind you, you guys can pitch in too!
If you see someone breaking the rules, (bypassing, spamming, flooding, hacking etc.)
You have the ability to record or screenshot these things and upload them to imgur/youtube and report them here on the forums under the "Report Abuse" section!
We are always sorting through the report abuses so the players would be dealt with immediately when breaking rules!

Thank you for your concern though, we understand completely, as mods we do try our best to help everyone, but we are only human so we can't be in 5 places at once unfortunately

LilBub thanks for commenting I understand how busy mods/admin/staff are. I was suggesting helpers, maybe I don't know (people with a specific role of moderating chat only). I know it's a long shot but something really needs to be done, I have submitted abuse reports only to have that particular player come back after a few days and abuse me or my friends even more or target on alts etc. I understand the staff do the best they can and I truly appreciate it. Just wanting the community to be a friendlier place for all, especially new people

It's a good idea in the abstract. But it just creates more work for Sr Mods, as in more applications/interviews/training etc. Moderators already do this job as best as they can. And as LilBub said, you can report any rule breakers on the forums.

Thanks Lis, yes my idea is certainly in the abstract, I fully agree with you there. Just putting the idea out there to see if anyone can add to it or improve it in any way In no way am I trying to undermine what our mods do for us already

I like the idea of having more help within the server, definitely. I also apologize if what I said seemed negative towards your idea. I know you aren't trying to undermine anyone here.

I have reported/screenshotted many, many abusers but unfortunately their actions aren't even punishable by a mute. This happened a day or 2 ago; a team of 2 kept on targetting me. When they killed me (after about 4-5 minutes of chasing right off of spawn) they would spam GG12. This happened on more than one occasion. Then one of them said: "Your mum freezes her sh*t and uses it as a dil**". Apparently this isn't even worth a mute which is kinda sad. I think that MCSG should be more strict when it comes to chat but instead of issuing bans simply give them a permanent mute if they continue. Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!
