And in my first 4 games on SG5, consecutively, I got 2 diamonds in one chest at corn. But I never actually got any swords out of those, never found sticks

I hate having enough to make it, but I don't have a temporary weapon and every single crafting table on the map seems like it has people with weapons everywhere around it.
