This. People can make long posts besides G33ke, and for reasons other than trying to emulate G33ke. People who make long posts do so because they have opinions they wish to express. Kind of wish that long posts would be viewed as that: an opinion in it's own right, with a valid argument and counter argument, rather than a 'G33ke post'. The tendency with these kind of posts I feel, is for people not to comment on the actual material, but rather just make a comment on the length of the post, and a reference to G33ke. This is not the way things should be done. Long posts should spark more discussion, not act as the final word in a conversation. Allowing a long post to completely dominate a discussion due purely to the fact that it is long is wrong.

Just my two cents on long posts.
it was only a joke what i said.... :(

Just to remind all the people that say "plg is wrong because it is smart to get good people out of they way", I had absolutely nothing. The guy followed me the whole game. He saw that I didn't get ANY chests. But he successfully chased me down. Then he was killed a second later by the guy who actually got some chests.

I didn't make this thread to rage (well, I sort of did), but I wanted to discuss why and what goes through peoples minds when they decide to waste the whole game on one person.

When I was a noob, I didn't realize that those numbers beside your name were points. This in a way saved me from doing classic boob things like
fisting. I also had about 2 months of experience of minecraft. Pvp servers, and single player. I never thought of chasing someone for any other reason than getting something I wanted. The most important thing to me was getting sufficient items to win.

To conclude, I think that some people have serious flaws in their desicions when it comes to games like this. And it really bothers me to see people do dumb things like chase someone with nothing just for the sake if the kill. People who want to win need to actually go for the win, not the useless kill that puts you 1/22 closer to the win.

This distinctly happened to be yesterday on SG 4, a person chased me around the map for a good minute and a half. I suppose it was unwarranted because they were unaware that I was indeed carrying two diamonds but at the same time I suppose if paid off for them. It isn't smart to chase someone around the map, because you lose out on a lot of items.

Just a little tip, it is very risky to go into the sewers without a weapon, people can easily follow you into the sewers of camp at the top when you come up.

This is just how things work in games. People seem not to know when to stop. I cannot describe how many times in other games that I've tricked people into chasing me simply because they got that first hit. I'll let them chase me right into my team, and they'll be all alone to die a quick and painful death, all because they got a bit cocky and decided to go alone to take somebody out they clearly had an advantage over... (No offense to anyone, just making a point. Imagining this exact situation in MCSG wouldn't make as much sense as some other games.)

People seem to get this idea that once you've started a fight, you have to win it, otherwise you won't be satisfied with yourself. People want the satisfaction of the kill so badly that they will chase said person down until they get the kill they so rightfully deserved, whether it benefits their team or not to do so. I find this to be even more true the less people you kill in a game. In MCSG, kills are few and far between. You aren't jumping into an arena with 100 people and going all out deathmatch, no. You are in an arena with 24 people in which you need to collect gear before you even consider killing them. Generally, on average, you'll kill maybe 3 people in a game you win, which can last 10 minutes, plus the 10 minutes to get in another one for the average non-donor user who knows how to get in well. This means a kill about every 3 minutes, then none for 10...Every kill feels great due to how few you'll get in comparison to some other games. People do not want their chance to get away.

Another factor in this is points. Chasing people down all game simply because they have a ton of points is stupid, unless you have a good reason for doing so, such as starting deathmatch when you're overpowered, or when they have nice stuff. When I had 10,000 points, I literally got chased all game, every game, for about 10 games in a row, and you know what? I don't remember any of these people winning their games, at all. :/ If they had not chased me, they would have had a chance at winning the game with a far bigger profit than they earned, such as the 100 they'd get from each member of the team of two that was there, or any other example, without losing it from dying...

Chasing is good when:
1. The person is going along your route and not slowing you down to chase them for a bit. (At least until they sway from your route a bit.)
2. You have plenty of gear and want to speed up the process for deathmatch. (Most of the time the people who chase me for ages when I have points don't have nearly enough for deathmatch, right at the beginning of the game. Those who didn't chase me right at the start tend not to care for my points and will leave me alone just as they would if I had 0 points.)
3. They have plenty of stuff with no chance of killing you: I.E, full iron and no weapon. (The exact reason not to ever put on armor until you have a weapon. People like me will chase you down and never let you get away if you clearly have something like full iron with nothing to defend yourself with. Even a wooden axe is 3 times better if you are going to wear armor.
4. It's a very good player who, if left alone, will probably collect gear and kill you later. (Know when to stop here, though, as in the time it takes to kill this player, there is likely at least one other at least half decent player who's collecting gear now. Don't chase these people any longer than you have to, or else you risk having too little gear to take anyone on at all.

But my main pro tip here: Don't get carried away with points. This is too easy to do wrong. Points are nice so you can reach milestones, but when you start prioritizing people to kill for points, or getting frustrated when they get below a certain number, you'll find yourself not getting any better. If you focus too much on points, you'll lose focus of the reason you want these points - to prove you are good at the game and getting better. Make improving your goal, not points.

Just my two cents on long posts.

Yep. I think that's what the meaning of a "G33ke post" should be. A long, detailed post that expresses the opinion of it's author clearly, without it being made just to have made a "G33ke post" and actually because you care to write it.

Remember - the longest post in a bunch of them isn't always the one that's the most well written or correct. In fact, I'm pretty terrible at describing what I want to say in a short way, and generally my posts are lengthy simply because I cannot find a way to shorten it while keeping it as detailed as my habits want it to be. (Generally, I like to be incredibly detailed to prevent any misunderstandings/questions.) There may be shorter, "better" posts out there. Length doesn't equal quality. I even have some past posts of my own, on various forums, including this one, that I come back to one day and think to myself how wrong I was, while also seeing the number of people who agreed with me in likes...I sometimes feel like I influence people in ways I wish not to. Remember, you are your own person, with your own opinions, no matter how long or well written a post is, no matter who wrote it, don't let it change your opinion completely without thinking it out yourself. I have one post even now that is still collecting likes, that I kinda want to go back and edit, although considering the changes I'd make and the amount of likes it has, I think I'm better off leaving it...even I disagree with myself sometimes. :p

(I think this may be my longest post so far... >.> Quite ironic considering what I was talking about at the end of it - this is not my best post. xD)
