AU server hosting?

Ohi, I know the AU servers are hosted in Singapore, because Australia has bad interwebz + expensive and I totally can agree with you there, but NBN Fibre is coming out for Australia, will this change anything with the server hosting? It'd be pretty cool, if Australian servers were actually hosted in Australia, (This isn't a rage thread or demanding to make real AU servers, I'm just wondering. :3)

I know PickleHosting is hosting in Sydney, Australia right now. They are offering $25/GB if you contact them on their sales email @ [email protected]

They will also throw in a dedicated IP's for servers 1GB+

It's already affected prices marginally, international transit is the main issue. And with new lines being placed and upgrading of the current ones it will definitely bring down the price of bandwidth in AU. For now, I'd say PickleHosting is the cheapest AU provider per the GB available.

If AU servers were moved to be in actual Australia would the Singaporean servers get moved? I think the majority of AU server players are from Asia so if this were to happen we would be left out but if they kept the AU servers as they are now plus add the new ones in Australia the games would hardly get full half the time.

$25/GB I'm not exactly sure what specs these servers (MCSG) have but I'm sure it's at a very hight quality. The AU servers are around $3 per slot where as the US and EU are around $1 so even with the new NBN Fibre coming out I'm sure it will still be more expensive than MCSG pay now but time will see.
