Most possibly will be. Most people that actually play on the AU servers are from the Asian region.

Nah it shouldn't be to laggy for you, it would be better then playing on the US from where you are.

And yeh, I'm Australian. I live in Tasmania, it's the most south place of all Australia but still being in Australia.But seeing as the servers are hosted somewhere in the Asian community I get the same connection as US servers.
