Keep in mind diamonds can spawn in any double chest anywhere on the map. I once got 4 diamonds fromt he code cave on map 1 and the same thing with the iron gear.

You can only craft boots of gold, iron, and diamond, but you can craft full leather. If this guy is seeing full iron, it isn't possible.
