I don't know how to join a server? Do you have to pay to play?
You will need to buy minecraft from here : https://minecraft.net/ Once you own minecraft, you need only to add one of the server IP's to your minecraft server list to join.
Server IP's can be found here: http://www.minecraftsurvivalgames.com/servers/ Feel free to send me a private message if you need any more help.
