In need of characters!!

As a project, we were given 2 months to come up with a 20 page short, action-packet novel for English class. Although, as the procrastinator I am, it is due in 2 weeks. I have the plot, though I do not have the characters. I know how much personalities there are here so why should I not turn to the community for support...

[Matt_The Dreamer]

Name : Matt/ Matthew
Age : 14
Appearance (Try to be detailed) : Dark brown hair in a mop atop a dirty face. Eyes fixed in a practiced position. His clothes are rags. Shirt with a rip that shows most of his upper body and shorts that use to be trousers. No shoes, his feet are permanently blistered from walking up and down the road begging.His mouth has scars from a old fight he had with his Dad. It's one of the reasons he ran away at a young age.
What's special about him : His swift hands: He can pick a pocket without anyone even batting a eye and handles a dagger like he was trained with weapons all his life. Although he has never killed anyone, he has prepared for it and knows many dirty tricks to get out of trouble.
Climbing; He knows most of the city off by heart, he can picture every street and shop in his head. He knows many shortcuts around it that means he can travel quickly from A to B . He's not afraid of falling either, he'll go to many heights without a care in the world.
Poor: He's poor and a thief, he has connections within the underworld. certain friends and enemies which he can use to his advantage throughout his adventure. But his poorness means that most of his equipment is handcrafted and can become ineffective against greater opponents.
Why I should choose your character : Cause Matt_The Dreamer is awesome . Also My character can be revised if he needs to be. I'm up for edits.
How your character's personality is : He's cocky, thinks he can take on anyone and come out unscathed. He needs a reality check, and fast. He loves danger for this reason, wants to see it all, live it all. Kinda hard when you're a beggar though. Living rough for 8 years has made him untrustworthy of anyone who isn't his friend. This counts for many rich people, who he would "borrow" some money from. His only friends are from a small gang of child thieves whom he trades valuable items for trade regularly.
