Is the points system being used correctly?

I always say wins > points, points are simply for show, wins are the thing that will show your skills. I normally bounty all of my points once I get them up a bit, just because I don't really care for them. Also I think the amount lost is fair, when I used to care about points I thought the same thing, now I see that 5% is fair enough

This wouldn't change anything. You would still maintain an average. The only way bounty can be added tot he game is by new players. If you lost a lower percentage of bounty, that means when you kill people you would gain less. So the outcome would be an average of about the same, it would just take longer to get there.

I don't really think it matters, I think points lost should be based on rank. Once I killed someone with 10000 bounty, and when I lost a game I lost about 500 points. If your really good, then your points should show it. That's why I could care less about bounties.
