3 Notes Before I begin -
*This is not a rant thread, I'm just talking about something I disagree with
*This is all not aimed at MCSG, parts are, but mostly at the internet in general.
*I also know that mod apps are closed currently, I wanted to post this while it was fresh in my head

Hey everyone, I wanted to talk about age restrictions (Moderator and other things.)
The internet in general seems to be transfixed on the notion that anyone under the age of 15 - 16 is immature, while this is true for many people, it is indeed - a steriotype.
While it does seem, the older you are, the less chance you have of being immature, I know many 14 year olds who are mature beyond that of many 16 - 21 year olds.

My point comes down to this - I have ambitions of being a mod. I am 14 and inquired about posting an app several days ago. My account says I'm 15 (Due to a mis-press). I was told to go for it by those in the thread, both mods and regular posters (I was unware that the age to apply was 15 at the time, I thought it was 14). If I was say, a year younger I take it that I would have endured some different responses. I assume it would have been littered with alot of "Wait a year"-'s ( I will if I have to, although it is a long time away and MCSG may die out by then.)

Now I am posting this to ask a few questions, and here some opinions.
1.Why is this rule of 15 and up in place?
2. Has there ever been an acception to this rule?
3. Those of you (who are not mods) agree with this rule.

Again, I reiterate. This thread is made out of curiosity, not anger (I know it's hard to tell the difference in text). I do ask that it is not closed unless fighting breaks out, I want to hear many opinions, not just a mods final answer.
Thank You.

1. Why is the rule of 15 and up in place?
Well from my standpoint I see that there is the stereotype that all people under 15 are immature. I do agree with that stereotype. Now I am not saying that all players 15 and under are immature but let's be honest, Most players 15 and under are "immature". I saw you also said that people have told you to wait until you are 15 and you say mcsg will be dead by then. I do not see mcsg dying any time soon. I see mcsg expanding still. We have a creative server, a tekkit server (which is currently down), and a survival server which is coming soon. And let's not forget about survival games! We are nowhere near dying off. MCSG is a great place and there are so many other minecraft players who have not heard of us yet! Sure some people leave, but after people leave I continue to see new active members to come along for the ride. If you don't remember, mcsg got started when The Hunger Games movie came out and it was such a big hit. Coming this November is a new move Catching Fire which is the sequel to The Hunger Games and I am sure that that will bring even more life to mcsg.

And with great power comes great responsibility and the admins and sr. mods need to make sure the mods they hire are responsible enough to handle what they are going to be doing as mods.

2. Has there ever been an exception of this rule?
Yes, I believe there has been an exception. But this person's app was pretty amazing from what I have heard.

The reason we don't allow mods under the age of 15 is due to many problems that have been caused by under-age mods in the past. We no hope you understand as yes it's an annoying issue I agree but imagine how bad the servers would get if an irresponsible mod got accepted.

Tironas is only 13 though I think and he's one of the most legit mods out there.
Although generally in MCSG's case, with age comes wisdom (or at least lack of stupid)

And I know maturity isn't a number but in most cases it comes with age.
2. Exception you mean? Yes.
3. I personally agree with this rule, but I also think in some cases exceptions should be made.

I think age restrictions are fine. But I also think exceptions are fine.

It really depends on maturity, not age.

I personally think they shouldn't deny a worthy written app.
You have to go through an intense interview on TS. I think on TS is where the decision about maturity should be made, as you can only slightly tell of someones maturity in typing.

0.1) mcsg will never ever die out, it's awesome.
1) people mature at diffent rates, so I don't agree with this rule.
2) yes
3)there can be exceptions as people (under 15 can be mature.) simply just from reading your thread I can tell you are quite mature for a 14 year old.
