Every one has a chance to appeal their ban, so a mod will tell he/her how to do so.

As for the topic of the thread, yes, Ban Disputes are primarily for unfair bans, but they can also serve as an appeal of forgiveness if the ban was legitimate. This will usually only work once though, as "doing it again" after begging to be unbanned saying you "won't do it again", will usually make your future disputes overlooked.
