This tutorial can be used by anyone, you don't need a gaming mouse/gaming keyboard.
Alright, so I think we all know that hotkeys are very important. The thing I like about having hotkeys is that I can place the Flint and Steel so quickly that people say that I use macro. For Quick-FnS, the best set-up (in my opinion) is this one:
1 - Sword- I got used to press 1 when I am in danger;
2 - Bow- the key 2 is the hardest to press, and changing between the slot 1 and the slot 2 is done with only one finger, so that's why it is slower. I think that the slot 2 is the best slot for the bow, because you don't need to quick-switch between the bow and the other items.
3 - Fishing Rod - The Fishing Rod is, without a doubt, the secondary weapon that I use the most, and I need to quick-switch it with my sword quite a lot. Changing between the slot 1 and the slot 3 is really easy, because I do it with two different fingers.
4, 5 - Flint and Steel - 4 and 5 are two slots that are easy to reach to, making quick-switching it with the sword really easy.
So these "easy-to-reach-and-press-number-keys" are 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. But what if there's more?
I think we all know that if you press "Esc" and go to Options, there will be a "Controls" button. There, you can set certain keys to do certain things in-game. For example, you can set the inventory key on "I" if you want. In the Controls, you can also set hotbar keys. For example, set your Button3 on slot 9 (the Button3 is the scroll button, just press on the wheel, don't scroll, PRESS).
You can do a lot of fancy stuff with this. You can set, for example, the "F" and "R" keys for the 6 and 7 slots. Be careful when choosing these keys:
1 - make sure that the key is not already used
2 - that is close to the "WASD" keys
3 - that is close to the rest of the keys (for example, close to the sword key so you can quick-switch between the slots when using Flint ans Steel)
Unfortunatly, sorting your inventory will be slower, because if you point with your cursour at one item and you press "F", it won't go to the slot that the "F" key is set to. For some reason, that only works if you use the default hotkeys for the hotbar.
Anyway, I hope this thread was helpful, sorry for any misspelings/mistakes in general.
