What are your thoughts on 1.9?

I have just read the 1.9 new item features and it states that sword blocking will be entirely eradicated. Instead, they are introducing shields for blocking. So if this is true then r.i.p block hitting

You actually won't be able to block with your sword at all, but they're adding shields, and devs have said on twitter it is possible to block hit with a shield.

Honestly, I'm skeptical about 1.9 because I feel as if new items such as shield may ruin PvP and the whole 1.7 PvP system may be flawed too. However, since I have not played on it yet, we will only wait.

When the release of 1.9 and MCSG will pass on this version for a while, maybe there won't be cheaters. This is my only plus. And cons and 1.8 fully - I never got used to the combat mode, the type of rod. But on the upside, the ability to do surround all parts of the skin, which is very convenient. Changed the display of players on a Tab that's cool too. I hope 1.9 will take into account all the shortcomings 1.8

It's not what I hope it should be.

The reason why most people enjoy Minecraft is because of it's simplicity, you can make so much out of so little. It's relaxing in that sense, and because of that simplicity, it can make people feel different ways about the game, whatever they want to and it'll work.

The so called "Combat Update" takes away from this. It makes the game more complicated and tycoony, if you understand what I'm saying, I think that a good 1.9 would be fixing up the mechanics we have now, THEN go ahead and add things that will go along with the way that Minecraft should be.

Addressing all the Minecraft updates, the reason why people hate them now is because they try to be professional with updates, when really, updates are to add on to the game, waiting for months and over a year for an update to the game won't make the game much more appealing for most.

Also, many of the updates have lost this feel of Minecraft, they are more geared to other things, adding tons of new stuff is fine, but when it seems out of place (as in too specialized), it doesn't work at all.

Still hoping for the best.

I just personally hope that 1.9 features don't mess with some of the mini-games servers have like 1.8 did.
