I've seen so many threads going..

'omg guiz post ur top 10 c:'

'top 5 mcsg playrs k?'

'i liek blueberry muffinz'

Yeah, that. Anyway, what in your opinion makes a good MCSG player?

There's so many things, so I'm limiting it down to my top 3.

1) Chest Routes

The most important skill imo, you can be skilled at PvP, that's cute. But good chest routes are crucial.

A pro PvPer with a leather hat and a wood axe, has no chance against a decent player with full iron and diamond sword. If you're not the best at fighting, due to FPS lag, internet lag, etc. Chest routes and tactics are killer crucial.

2) PvP skills.

Yeah, it's absolutely needed. PvP isn't about clicking fast. PvP is about tactics, strategy and internet...

My PvP tatics fighting a weaker player: Just clicking and aiming, if you're completely stacked and they're not, you just have to click and aim really. Unless they're a hacker, you should always try your hardest then.

My PvP tactics fighting a normal player: I've actually noticed a pattern when I fight a player with the same gear as me. This works for me. Go into battle, use a fishing rod just before they hit you knocking them back, switch to flint and steel and light one block, if they're on fire I hit them once/twice/three times, run back and bowshot.

My PvP tactics fighting a completely stacked player: FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Yup. c:

3) Internet/Good FPS

Something I don't have...

Yep, this is insanely important. Bow shots come out, IN NO TIME. If you hit someone, IT DOESN'T TAKE A SECOND FOR THEM TO TAKE DAMAGE. Having good internet can mean the difference between life and death. The greater FPS the better imho, I'm a perfectionist so it's generally full setting for me because I like better graphics.. Buuuuuuuuuuut. c:

The better FPS the faster you can move on your screen. c:

Just my top 3 things a player should have.

In my honest opinion...if you're good enough at PvP, chest routes aren't actually as important as you might think. Unless you're on the right map, it's not hard to get a stone sword/half chain without any idea where you're going and still win. I'm too lazy to make routes these days, so on many maps I just pick up chests I do know of as I discover new ones; I rely on my PvP during the learning period, and once the learning period is over, I don't even need a route anymore; I know the map well enough that whichever direction I end up going, especially if I get thrown off track, I can still pick up chests.

I have a chest route in Breeze Island, SG2, SG4, Moonlight Lake, and Survival Kingdom...all maps where a route is a necessity and/or easy to make. The only map I have trouble in is SG3. The other maps, SG5, SG1, TSG1, TSG2, Kharmunrah...no trouble at all, unless I got unlucky. I honestly don't need a route on most maps, it's a lot more fun to explore the map and a lot more beneficial to know where chests are everywhere instead of only knowing the ones I grab in the first 5 minutes or so.

I just like having fun. In my opinion a good player is some one who has fun with the game. Good can be a lot of things but my favorite people in MCSG are those who i can just have a bit of fun teaming with.

Just my opinion

Basically everything that darkrai just said. Especially the fps and internet lag. Let me give you an example.....
BEFORE
  • 19 wins
  • 4 fps
  • 3% win pct
  • What I had to suffer with on a GOOD day(some of you may remember this video :D
AFTER
  • 250+ wins in 4 months.
  • 150+fps
  • 45% win pct (only counting past new computer)
  • And my typical gameplay

a good player isn't any of these. a pro player is what's a listed above but a good player is someone who's friendly with the community and likes to have fun not someone who just takes it all to seriously and focuses there every game on winning and nothing else.

Another VERY important thing is knowing your surroundings. Know how you can get someone into a corner, and know how to avoid getting into one yourself. If you get trapped against a wall, you're a much easier target because your space is more limited.

I guess this just falls into PvP tactics though :p
