This is how I view the difference between hate and criticism/voicing opinons.

Hate is directly attacking the creator of the content, or the content itself without giving any reasoning

Voicing opinions is where you actually offer reasons as to why you dislike something. Here are some examples of these things, using Vida Cova as the the para-example.

Hate: "I hate this map!" "This map sucks!" "You suck at building!"

Criticism: "I don't like this map because it doesn't look very well built." "The over-powered items and how hard it is to get out of the gorge makes this map hard to play for some people, myself included."

I completely agree with what you said

I am going to voice my opinion on what you said, it might have some mistakes, so If you could reply back with answers it would be great c;

"Voicing your opinion is great! It gives the community a great idea of what some of the better things are and also what things could be improved upon."

Sure it does, and I agree with what you said in this sentence.

"However, many take this a step further and bring it to the level of hate. Whether it is against leaving threads, maps, or MCSG in general, there has been a lot of hate coming from many different people."

I understand that people have hate towards these stuff, but they have the freedom to voice the hateful opinions, and sometimes, it does a better job then just saying it in more of a calm words.

"Why?
How can you possibly hate something if it doesn't affect you?

I understand you may not like certain maps or people posting leaving threads and might think that they are unnecessary, but when people start to use words such as "hate" or "despise", it just brings opinions to a whole different level."

First off, I completely disagree with what you said in the first sentence, because anything that MCSG does can affect us, if it is by adding a new map that has a lot of unfair items, which would cause quite a bit of trouble for us and the staff team( we all know why Wyverns Wake was removed).

The next paragraph is also a bit wrong, I can understand you when it comes to leaving threads, but when it comes to maps that you hate, voicing it with a good argument on why you hate it usually works better than just saying that you didn't like it, here is an example: http://prntscr.com/2tce3i

"Don't like a map on MCSG? Guess what? You aren't forced to play it!!!! Don't ask for it to be removed if it has no effect on you whatsoever! It's understandable that it can get annoying to leave servers over and over again if you don't like the maps, but it's something that you can survive. In fact, I doubt it even hurts you at all. People take time to make maps and saying you want it to be removed is like a shot to the knee."

Well, I guess I could agree with you there.

"Don't like all the leaving threads on the forums and think that they are unnecessary? Guess what? You don't have to read them in the first place!!!! Even if you think it's clutter, if it is in the right section it is ok. Does what people create to show their gratitude towards the community and also to inform about them leaving affect you? No! People have the right to create these things. That's what the forums are for!"
Leaving threads can be pointless and annoying, because most of the time they are short and it would rather be better if it will be just a new status update. But if they thread is also going to include a big enough story of your life in MCSG, that's understandable. Also, I am a 100% sure that some people posted a thread about them leaving MCSG just to get attention and to be talked.

"Suggesting change to a feature is great. I completely support that! "How can we make this better, how can this improve?" I am all for that.

But wanting something to be completely removed or stopped just because you don't like it? For Pete's sake,

It doesn't affect you!

This just blows my mind."

If someone doesn't like a map or a certain type of thread in MCSG, he is probably not the only person to do so.
Wanting something to be completely removed or stopped is pretty much the same as wanting a map to stay , I mean there are always threads or people wanting a map to get removed, and when it is removed people regret it and want it to get back again. Does it mean it affects them?... :3

In conclusion, people should have the freedom to voice the opinions they have, hateful or not, as long as it brings up good points it is worth to do so.

[This wasn't a great of an post I had there, and I know there are some mistakes and might have went a bit off the actual point, so please tell me where is the problem. but at the end, I am 50/50 with your thread]
1) People do have the freedom to voice hateful opinions. However, most of the time they come off rude and aren't needed.

2) If a map has OP items, you still don't have to play on it and then it won't affect you. :p People often use OP items as a reason why they hate a map. Can't the items be removed rather than the map itself being removed?

3) The short and annoying threads really could be in a status update, I agree. However, they have a right to make a thread about it. That's what the community corner is for, isn't it?

4) If a map is added to the servers, it should never be removed. Why? If it was good enough to get accepted, it's good enough to stay. Even if you don't like it for some reason or another, others still do. Saying what's wrong with a map doesn't warrant a removal. You don't have to play it if you don't like it, even if it is underplayed. ;)

5) People shouldn't voice their opinions if they are hateful. That's just rude and disrespectful to the people that the opinions are targeted towards.

This is how I view the difference between hate and criticism/voicing opinons.

Hate is directly attacking the creator of the content, or the content itself without giving any reasoning

So true, but its how you view the message a user might have put forth for example.

If someone said: "I hate (map), it's terrible," this is hate because it presents no reason towards why they hate it.
However if someone said: "(Map) sucks because its badly built," this is, again, still hate because it isn't presenting a way the map maker could improve the map.
Criticism is only when an argument is put forward that has a supporting reason and a way that thing could be improved.

1. I agree that the map shouldn't be removed just because of OP items, but just removing the items them self seems to be a huge trouble for the staff to fix. :p

2. If the map was good enough to get accepted, but is full of bugs that can't be fixed, then it should be removed to not cause trouble to the people playing it(Lost ridge etc...)

With unnecessary threads, they do have an effect. They push serious/important threads back into other pages of the section where you likely won't get a chance to see and discuss them. You get stuck with someone that leaves for a week and comes back.

You do have a point with that. I was wondering if anyone was going to bring that up! :p

This is true.

I feel like some of your points don't really have too much of a valid base. Saying we should ignore something because "it doesn't affect us" doesn't really line up. If that logic was completely accepted, we would have no threads in the proper places, advertising would be rampant, and the forums would be a mess because "You don't have to read" the offending posts, and we should just let everyone do whatever they want. In the end, it should be up to the poster to keep posting standards high.

I realize it looks as though I'm misrepresenting or exaggerating your original point with my post, as the scenario I presented is obviously nothing like what you are asking for in your original post. The point is, that's where it would lead if the philosophy was widely accepted. It just doesn't work when applied to all of the possibilities.

By posting this thread in the first place, contradiction is found within the original post itself.
