It's pretty sad where we're at now with people in-game. To be honest, I wish I could just hide my chat because I'm sick of seeing what I see in it on a game by game basis. Of course, being a mod, I can't do this, because I have to moderate it. But what I'm sick of seeing isn't the stuff we ban for; it's the stuff like "wow hacker *leaves the game immediately*" "rekd" "noob" "get good scrub" "gg 10 hearts" or in a lobby it's more like "team say 123" "anyone skype team??" "vote 4!" "dont vote 4, 4 sucks" "any girls team?" "omg vote 1!" "Joeys on us21" "do /stats *playername*" "i won 3 games in a row im pro" and the chat just goes on and on and on and on and on with that kind of crap. I guess this is what happens when so many of the players are children, but it's still quite irritating; and it never used to be as bad as it is now.

And as for disrespect, yeah, that's also becoming more of an issue. I just try to say nothing if I can when it comes to winning a game or ending a fight, unless it was a really good fight, I might say something along the lines of "Hey, nice fight. Half a heart." And gg... I remember when gg was never something meant to be trash talk, it was simply common courtesy after a decent fight. But with the way people have become, it's become disrespectful because the general attitude of people in-game is of superiority, haughtiness, and in general "I can say what I want because I'm behind a computer screen." People just automatically assume someone's being disrespectful when they say something that can have multiple meanings, because most of the time, they are. It's sad but true.

So my advice would be, just keep to yourself and don't say anything in chat if you can avoid it, and you'll run into less problems. And it's not like someone has a right to get mad at you if you're not saying anything. You're not obligated to type in the chat after every kill, or at all for that matter. If there's one thing I've learned, replying to someone who's being a jerk is not going to make them stop. It's just going to give them exactly what they're looking for, a reaction. Of course with mods, it's a bit different, because we're expected to respond to players' questions and concerns, but I personally rarely have anything to do with chat that isn't strictly business. It's annoying for me to deal with people acting stupid over a game. But, anyone has the option to not let things get them angry.

TL;DR: Just ignore the idiots and keep to yourself. Don't let what's said in the chat affect the way you play.

Solution: Block the word GG

Pros: No trash talking, people will stop complaining about someone telling them gg.

Cons: People will have to type an extra few letters to say 'good job' if they meant it like that.
Do you really want people to start saying qq? That would be terrible.

Oh man, 2 different letters. It's what's behind the meaning is what count. I can say gg 10 hearts rekt to a friend when I kill them, they'll take it as a joke. If I say it to any old random they'll have a hissy fit and start crying. I'm sure seeing 2 letters different on their screen isn't going to cause MCSG to do anything.

I often use the term GG myself when I play (be it this or most any online game) and the negative stigma it has received is quite strange to me. It's not an inherently negative term, and so no one should treat it as such without a good reason.

When I tell someone GG, I'm saying "Hey, that was a nice fight, good job" because that's simply what the words mean. If someone wants to interpret that as me being rude, that's on them, not me, as the words are inherently good-natured.

I'm saying that it makes me angrier when people say "qq". The way I see it, they are making fun of you by "crying" kind of. I just think it's more arrogant to say "qq".

I tend to agree. QQ is meant to symbolize crying eyes, so it's safe to say that it (unlike Good Game) has an inherently negative meaning.

see what kills me is when theres some guy who wants to team with you, then you fight him and hes convinced your hacking, so he gets a teammate, tryhards you, kills you, and then says gg afterwards....

but in all seriousness, I only use gg in 4 situations:

1. at the end of a game, which is meant literally as "this was a good game".
2. against a team of 2 that I kill when im in a REALLY bad mood. (that's how you can tell, if I say gg to someone its usually me in a bad mood)
3. against that one guy that will go into all my games and say "EVERYONE MAKE SURE TO KILL ULTIMATEAFS".
4. against a friend (who knows I mean it legitimately as good game) or a really good opponent (In which case its usually followed by "that was a really good fight")

On number 2, if a team is really just targeting me off spawn, and I kill them, I'll say "GG" if I'm in a really bad mood. Mostly just to make them feel like they failed badly, I mean they might take it in a bad way, but they deserve it for targeting >_<

Who cares what they say? The fact that you took out 2 of them means that you had the skill unlike the team of 3 that still had the guts to insult you after you took out 2 of them. Don't listen to what they say. You did a good job :)

GG itself should be acceptable in any death, IMO.

Only when numbnuts decide to put "get rekt" or "26 hartz" at the end is when it should be counted as disrespect, and I'm pretty sure it already is...

If you get killed by a hacker and they say "GG" , is it really a good game? There are a lot of situations that shouldn't be a "GG"
