Totally new someone help?

Ok so i have seen a lot of Hunger craft games on you tube and it looks like so much fun! But i don't know how or where to start. Do i first need to pay and download the mine craft online and then from this site copy and paste the servers ? Im so lost on how to set everything up and want to get started asap! Another question, is it still popular? On some youtube vids it looks like alot of people still play but on the server lists it looks pretty empty!

Ok then...

First purchase MineCraft from www.minecraft.net
Then download it from the website and sign into the launcher using your account details.
Click "Multiplayer" and then click "Add Server" Add one of these 5 ip's depending on your region.
- eu.mcgamer.net
- us.mcgamer.net
- au.mcgamer.net
- ca.mcgamer.net
- as.mcgamer.net
Then right click your compass and click "Survival Games" Then look for a server that is in "Lobby" and right click the sign in order to join.

EDIT - Yes the servers are still very popular, well, EU and US definitely are, i'm not sure about other regions!
