If bans are unfair, they get unbanned. That's what the ban disputes section is for. Because we don't publicly state the reasons why people get banned, of course you hear it directly from the people who receive it, and often tend to "forget" certain things when recounting tales of their "unfair bans" towards others. And because we care more about player privacy than making ourselves look good (or not "corrupt", as a favourite term of this community) we don't release ban information except for in very extreme cases (eg, some of the more "influential" members I'm sure you can think of a few, who say "Omg I was perm banned for <reason>... it was so unfair, MCSG is corrupt and biassed.". But what they fail to say to the public is that they have had multiple warnings, temp bans, kicks, etc... more than enough warning.)

Basically, no one gets permabanned for "arguing with a famous person" or having "hacks". They would have had plenty of warnings, but continued to break the rules leading to their ban.
