I need help! My win/loss ratio is terrible (10/856 or 1 in 85.6 games won)! The average ratio for winning games is 1/24.
I'm putting this up for my friend as well (win/loss of 5/543), as they have a very sad score too.
Whenever I team, one of us screws up and I get a little annoyed, and look for someone to blame, so I generally solo things. Our team is really weak, and no matter what gear we have, one guy somehow always manages to kill our team easily. Idek
how that's possible when we both have full iron and a guy in full leather solos us. :p
I've tried PvP guides, PvP videos, chest routes, PvP servers and PvP tutorials to make me better - nothing seems to work though. For 90% of maps I have a chest route which gives me at least 1-2 tier 2's, and I am generally pretty stacked when I fight.
Whenever I fight, I try to surprise attack my opponent, critical them and strafe to get behind them. It makes no difference. I still lose, even when I try to light them with a FnS (my favorite secondary other than a bow despite the fact in FFA I constantly light myself as well).
Quick-switching is really hard to do and seems pointless as scrolling works fine. Block-hitting also seems pointless as it makes you move as if you're in a cobweb.
I already know things like arrows dip when underwater, how to dodge bowshots pretty well, to come in with a sword when your opponent has the wrong weapon out and criticaling only happens while falling.
Part of the games I've lost are due to lag spikes (1/10 at least), but overall I constantly die in PvP fights. When i get to a deathmatch, i try to stay out of the way but of course I get killed first anyway. Every map I've won on has been purely luck-based (8/10 times I've won on maps when I hate them so much, I'm feeling REALLY annoyed and I have worse than half chain armor). Take Rugged Lands for example. I hadn't heard of it before I got chased around for 20 mins, killed a guy, made it to dmatch and with the equivalent of a chain chest and leggings, killed a guy in full iron with a diamond sword.
I would love to put some videos up, but I can't due to stupid graphics cards (Most of the time Bandicam crashes the GUI of my computer, not the sounds, CamStudio gives Minecraft sticky keys, Fraps downright crashes my graphics card and so on, and they all make my computer lag as well).
Take a look at my stats. They're hopeless. I'm not trying to be incredible at PvP, and I understand someone needs to be a noob at MCSG, as not everyone can be pro, but I would like to improve a bit at least (Maybe a ratio of 1/20?).
I really would like some help, as I dislike playing on MCSG now for fear of making my stats even worse.
I hope you can help even though I can't put any videos up. Thanks guys!

AU is one of the harder regions to become a good player, especially when you are competing against so many highly ranked player that are crammed into 24 servers. Fortunately for you the servers have been upped to 50 for AU now, you should be seeing a lot less high-end players in many of your games. As for becoming a good player, you seem to have an understanding of the basics and may just be performing wrong. When it comes to blockhitting you cant just spam right click and left click simultaneously. Try 4-5 left clicks then 1 right click in a pattern thats more offensive then defensive.

I have played many servers of Minecraftia and I must say that the PvPers on MCGamer are the best I have seen. What I recommend is to look through the forums in the tips forums and see what you can find there. Nevertheless I am moving the thread to Survival Games Discussions as this really isn't a General Support question.

Thank you guys, I'll try your suggestions! Yes, I noticed there's more servers now, so that makes it better. Also. US and AU have the same ping. I live nearer AU, but the US ones are 2 - 3 times as good as the AU's power, which means they're pretty much the same unless you live in the US.
I'd also like to know which one you prefer, which one gives you more problems and why you like it so I can decide.
Block-hitting once in a while might work too. I'll try reviewing Huahwi's video with a friend, and practising it. Thanks guys!

Also, I wasn't sure where to put it, so thanks for moving it:D

Keep playing and practice. My ratio was REALLY bad when I first started but I did not give up and now my ratio is a little better than 1 win out of 10 games. You cant get better from other people, you have to develop your own strategies and then you will get really good.

To be honest, its weird how things work out. Lots of the videos that I've seen try to help you get better at pvp, but they don't relate well to a beginner player. I remember watching a guy 1v4 a team using a really powerful combo:

1) Fishing rod the player
2) Immediately fns the block in front of them
3) Get a few hits on them
4) Then run - even if you have more health than them
5) Hopefully, they'll chase you and you can repeat the process again.

Seems easy enough, amirite? Except when I tried in game, I missed my fishing rod, lit myself on fire, and died. Yay.

So what I'm saying is, don't try complicated stuff at first. If you're not that great at fns effectively, just use all 4 charges in a line to try and light the player chasing you. Eventually, you'll get a better feel on how to time and place it, and will only need to use one charge to light the player. Fishing rod technique, IMO, is not easy. Spamming a fishing rod at a player is not the fishing rod technique either. So try and learn how to use other tricks effectively before trying the fishing rod. Also, practicing your Bow and Arrow skills will help you incredibly - effective use of it will make kills much easier. Just keep practicing things, and you'll find that you are quickly getting better.

I only had about 1 win for the first 500+ games I played. But then, I found that I was getting better and starting to win far more games - and now I'm at a 10o/1000 WL (not that great, but good enough). So yeah, keep practicing XD.

Becoming good is probably easier on AU as there are good players and teams, getting wins would be harder though. xD
