Hello. Prior to completely saying no to this, please read through the entire thing, and then respond, don't just respond reading one or two sentences, or if you just feel the topic is a joke. However, with that said, I encourage you to post below your opinion, even if you do disagree with the Topic. Tell me why, not simply just say 'No' and then don't justify your reasoning for saying no. Also, keep all Arguments and/or debates friendly, and keep the server rules in mind, thanks.
Reasoning for making this thread, is simply because I disagree, yet agree, with the following Rule, or standard if you will: All applicants need a microphone that they can use to communicate with players/staff on our TeamSpeak. It is your decision to buy a microphone if you do not have one; it does not guarantee you will be accepted as a moderator. I have reasons that I both disagree, and agree with this Rule/Standard - But I believe that I disagree with this Rule/Standard more then I do agree with it; for a bunch of reasons. I'm going to begin by pointing out why I Disagree with the topic. A Moderator, yes, needs a way of communication, for they can communicate quickly, and efficiently with other Moderators/Staff. But that doesn't mean that the Moderator shouldn't be a Moderator due to not having a Microphone. I, was recently denied for becoming a Moderator, and yes, I was denied for only not having a Microphone. Well, at least that's how it was told to me. I wrote in my Written application that I -DON'T- nor, will I -ever- get a Microphone as a Moderator. My written application was accepted, I was beyond happy, hence loving these servers, and wanted to give back by presenting my Moderation skills. But the minute I get onto TeamSpeak, for my interview, they right away tell me that I can't be a Moderator without a Microphone... I assume they read my Application, and the part that I clearly pointed out in Red/Bold writing, and that they would still consider me, hence accepting my application... I was wrongly mistaken.
I believe I would be a great staff member for Minecraft Survival Games server, I think I clearly showed that in my application, which I think outweighed my fact that I didn't have a Microphone. Many people; like I, have reasons for not getting a Microphone, like me, these reasons are personal. Yes, I know there's a Zeller, or a store that sells microphones just down the street, but it isn't a money problem, so throw that out the window. Some people, would be substantially excellent Moderators, but don't have a Microphone for some reasons as well. I don't think they should be denied for these reasons. A possible contestant for Moderator should be denied if they're not fit for the job mentally, not physically. (Aka; using a Microphone to talk with others) I'm very experienced with the works of Minecraft server staff, and I've spoke to a few users that got their Application accepted, went into TeamSpeak, and then was told that they needed a Microphone, and these people I spoke to would be perfect for the job. (At least from what I could see) I'm not saying I would be the oh so perfect Moderator, but I know I could do the job, and I could do the job well, if only I could be given the chance without having a Microphone. Moderating TeamSpeak vs Moderating In-game, the latter is much more important in my mind.
Now, there's some things that I can respect for reasoning for needing a Microphone. These reasons include Communication with other Moderators/Staff (As I listed above) with such a large bundle of servers, you need to have a quick way to communicate with these users, the Microphone is the quickest way to do so. Also, you must keep in mind that the servers are not just one populated big server, oh no oh no, there's over 24 servers to Moderator, this requires the top of communication, which is of course, a Microphone. But this doesn't doubt that other ways of communication; Skype, Typing in TeamSpeak chats, Conversations on the forums, etcetera. I think these are just near to as efficient as the things that require a Microphone. Now, some may be confused on why I'm giving points on why this suggestion should be denied but that isn't what I'm trying to do, I'm trying to give reasons on why this rule/standard should be changed, outweighs the reasons that it shouldn't be changed.
Overall, I'm trying to get this Rule/Standard change, for those who would be great Applicants, can be great Moderators, without having to go out and buy a Microphone. Not be denied due to not having one. At the very least, allow those -only- exceptional Applicants a chance to go through the TS interview, but crack down harder on them, and really express that if you want to become a Moderator, without a Microphone, you better be a good one. This will increase the amount of skilled Moderators on Minecraft Survival Games, and just make it a better place. At the same time, I respect any arguments against this, as long as there's good reasoning. Thanks for reading, and I hope this gets changed/adjusted.
