Hi guys, FloppehFeesh here. Hungercraft has been dead for a long time, so I do not think the following would be considered advertising. Anyway, back in the day I used to be a regular on a server called Hungercraft. I loved this server a lot, and one of the things that made the server and community so awesome were all of the events and official games that were hosted.

This is the idea of an official game. These games would be played periodically, usually monthly or weekly. They are basically normal games that consist of players chosen in a certain way, but what make the games different is that they are streamed, there are prizes, and the stakes are much higher. They would often feature a new map. Like a normal game, only one winner can win. These games would usually contain a lot of hype and become a big deal. It may have been the best feature on Hungercraft.

I think it would be great for MCSG to host events like this. It would be amazingly fun and competitive. Here are some ideas I have for these events:

  • Maps: The maps played in these events can be new, random, or set. I personally think introducing new maps in events like this would be the best option, with a map set from already existent maps would be the second best option.
  • Players: Of course, the players are one of the most important aspect of events like these. They can be chosen multiple ways. One way is first come first server, which is one of the worst ways and could anger many people. The next way is one of the best options, randomized selections. All whom wish to enter enter a drawing and 24 people are chosen randomly to play. One of my personal favorite ways to select the players would be to select the top 24 players on the leader board for something like win to loss ratio in the past week. If this style is chosen, then the players would know of this before hand so they can fight for the top 24 positions.
  • Streamers: You cannot have events like this without streamers! The games would be streamed by well known streamers. The streams would need a delay on them so players in the game would not be able to use the stream to get information on the other players.
  • Prizes: Without prizes, what would be the point? It would be awesome for the winners of these events to get some type of donor or a tag on the forums.
  • Moderation: These events need moderation to ensure that no one does anything illegal.
  • Teams: This is probably the biggest problem here. Teams are a part of MCSG, whether you like it or not, and I think they should still be legal for events like these. But it is not only for that reason, there is no sure way to set a limit to team capacity or deny team entirely. I speak from experience, if teams are not allowed a controversy will always come from it. Players can truce and avoid each other and people will never know if they are teaming or just playing passively. It is a rule you cannot support. Plus, even with teams, only one person can win in the end. Betrayal and trust issues will arise in teams without a doubt.
What do you guys think of this idea? Any feedback? Would you love to play in consecutive events like these?

If this belongs in the Feature Suggestions sub-forum, please move it there.

I remember these, but I feel as if they stretched too far from actual Survival Games. They were pretty cool, though.
