I've been thinking about it almost obsessively since I posted about 40 minutes ago, and I think that the comics could go something like:
1: Survival Games 1. Plot: Basically shows typical game progression, with one person ending up completely decked and hunting everyone else down bit by bit, with maybe one person who can be considered a threat showing them a hard time. This would introduce basic gameplay in the basic map.
2. Either SG2 or a community map. We could do community maps (1-3 of them) in between Vareide maps, or do all the Vareides in a straight shot. This one would have a characteristic, like being a quick, PvP centered game or being totally camper based. Maybe it would be a decked guy vs. a tree camper, and the tree camper wins by pushing the decked guy into lava or off a cliff or something.
There would be different sorts of games, with different themes and battle progressions, maybe having each match have different narratives like some focusing on one person's struggles, one being more an announcer point of view, seeing the entire battlefield, or maybe documenting the mental struggles of a mentally unprepared team, looking out for the chances that their teammates will kill them from behind, and maybe toward the ends, you could do funny things like have the Terewan Dragon carry a lucky warrior on his back, flying around and killing all the other tributes with tooth and claw (and maybe some fire or frost breath).
Maybe Solar Frost could include the two final tributes being trapped in the same cave room on opposite sides of the snowy cave collapse that nearly killed them during their fight, and it recounts their points of view as they grow insane hearing their fellow tributes die around them, the caves broadcasting every scream to every player, and the game ending with them finally being teleported to deathmatch and, well, I don't know. Hugging? They've gotta be empathetic after all that.
And at the end, you could have the winners, the highly developed all-star characters, battle it out in one highly characterized, extremely well narrated event on one super-map.
But, of course, I leave the details to you
