I think there were chests placed somewhere around the lobby's map, what if he found them there? It's happened before, which was quite a while. However, I think this could potentially be a glitch, but I do encourage you contacting a staff member upon this situation.

There's a glitch that was here a while ago where you could spawn in the Pre-Game lobby with the armor if you won the previous game. I'm supposing that that glitch got unpatched when V2 came out.

This is currently a glitch that occurs sometimes when players accidentally take their inventory from the previous game into the lobby. Don't worry, this is on the dev's long list of bugs, and the player is not able to take this into the following game.
