This might some extremely cheesy and maybe even stupid to some people, but I am a very sensitive person.
I don't like insults at all, and it honestly breaks my heart to hear stories of bullying on the news, and it pisses me off when I see someone insult another on your servers.

I mean, I can handle the internet, I'm never going to do something over-dramatic because of something someone said online, however it does put me down a lot when someone talks smack to me in-game, especially considering I can't really do anything in my defense without looking like a Feminine Hygene Product bag myself.

People need to realize it's Minecraft, a block game, and some people (not necessarily me) play this game to get away from reality, and if people are going to insult you for not having the same skill-level as them, it doesn't help them out.

I've been insulted far too many times just by killing people/getting killed in the survival games. I was called a "Ultimate Fishing Rod Of Doom scrub" for running for a while from a team of two - and I honestly felt a little like crap. What exactly did I do wrong?

I understand people will tell me to just ignore them and "don't let them put me down" but sometimes I can't help it, I end up reading the chat anyways and it really angers me, but I always find a way to prevent myself from talking back.

The point of this thread is to remind you, even if you're fortunately not a trash-talker, that it's just Minecraft, and real people are playing the game. Insulting someone won't change the fact that what they did happened. I know I sound like a god damn school dean right now but it's honestly the truth, I used to play on a different PvP community, and someone literally commit suicide because of something someone did to them on there. I wish I could say I was joking but it happened.

There will always be rude people. The most you can do is ignore them and not let it affect you. I know that seems hard but once you don't care anymore about what other people say, it gets easier

I agree completely. I think it's best if people don't listen to most voices online, as they could be virtually anyone, from an eight-year-old to a 70-year-old. However, that doesn't make treating others like crap okay. This will sound cheesy, but the golden rule is really the way to go when it comes to all types of social interaction, online or not. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

You don't know who is behind that screen. It could be a sensitive person, someone with aspberger's, someone who's dog died yesterday, or just plain a dog. If you go around throwing insults everywhere, you will inevitably offend someone, and you will make yourself feel worthless as well.

With that in mind, it's never enough simply to avoid doing wrong. It is the duty of every person to stand up for someone getting picked on, whether online or not. Standing up for someone actually feels good, too. When I used to play a lot, I would have to tell someone to stop being so abusive around once per game, and most of the time it worked. Most jerks and bullies are actually weaklings once you get beyond their tough outer shell. Strong people are the ones who seek to help others.

I don't personally get bothered by this, but I can understand people who do. I used to always get bothered by things like this, but then I got smacked in the face by reality. There will always be jerks in the world, it's human nature. At school, the internet, work, there will always be people like this. You just have to learn to stand up for yourself and move on.
