I'm arguing against the use of friendship to win more games, not friendship per se. You can make friends without building trusting each other in the game. Just play with the understanding that you are ultimately competing. If I'm playing a game of monopoly with friends, it's understood we're playing to win. If two players decided to pool their resources, they would do quite well, but this would not be accepted.

There is potential for confusion here. A person who betrays at will is more likely to win that game. But a person who doesn't betray his teammates may win more games overall, as he can trust that person to not betray them next game. But this is more boring, players should be focused on winning the current game.
Not sure if i understand this, but for me goes having some fun and making friends over winning the game. I know this isn't how it is supposed to be, but... (can't think of anything smart, it's late and i' sleepy lol)

I'm arguing that you'll have more fun if you and your friends are looking over each other's shoulders, plotting and suspecting and such. Maybe you'd rather just be a happy team and kill other people and get cool weapons and win. That's okay, I guess... (although if you form a powerful, trustworthy team that wins frequently, you might be making the game less fun for other people.)

I'm one of those rare cookies that roleplay as I play the survival games. c: This reminds me of our beta, where truces weren't established as much as they are today.
