How does one become a gamemaker?

Oh, oh! I can answer this one. The gamemakers we had were initially chosen for HG1, and through the attrition of lack of motivation we lost quite a few. I haven't been a gamemaker since the first one (to my disappointment), so I haven't been able to do anything in the last few chaotic games. In the past few the gamemakers were mainly moderators and people who helped with server things, but sometimes those people did things that challenged the already challenging gameplay. Overall, if you help out with Hell Games, you may become a gamemaker. Maybe.

I've never participated in the Hell Games, so of course I have a lot of asking to do :)

1). What's the general idea of the Hell Games?
2). How can we get picked? Is it first come first serve? Or something else?
3). What kind of map can we expect? Is it going to be a map like on MCSG?

4). How do the chests perform exactly? As in, refill, where would they be put, and all that good stuff.

1.) It's basically MCSG but harder, with more hinderances and far less chests. More surviving than just PvP. You have a teammate who is of your district, who you did not choose. The game starts, the only chests start off in cornocopia, and you wander around looking for a good place to stay or people to kill. You can get sponsored different items (randomized, might I add, by size) as you wonder around.

2.) You get picked by Application. Your application does have a big thing to do with if you're picked or not. A bad (overly confident, astoundingly immature) application gives you low chance of getting into the game. Other factors include: wins, forum posts/recognition, age, and just your pvp skill in general.

3.) It is generally a difficult terrain to fight on. Mountains, swamp, ice, whatever. There aren't many structures, and you may or may not starve. The cornocopia is layered and sugnificantly larger. Not too much like MCSG.

4.) Chests are full in beginning. Worse stuff on the outside, better stuff and weapons on the inside. The only time you can get chests ingame outside of corn are if you're sponsored, a chest will appear with randomized loot based off sponsorship size. Other than that, you're on your own. There are no other chests.

It might help for the gamemakers to not sloppily interfere. Also, add a few chests hidden across the map.

Question: How exactly are the tributes chosen?

I have a solution to this madness.
Have a form that anyone can fill out if they have over a certain amount of wins. Each Hell Games, randomly draw 24 forms. That way it's fair.

Maybe a couple chests to help in movement, but not very many.

We judge people off of how well they will entertain or perform and if they will be enjoyed on 'the big screen' by the Forum Community. If all 24 people were people nobody cared about, not many people would enjoy watching as much. You care more about people you know than a bunch of random people.

As of right now, anyone can fill out the form. We take people into account, it is not as biased as you think (though admittedly it is a little biased).

Yeah, but for people like me that recently switched from other servers, it might be impossible.

One of the questions on the applications, I believe, was 'have you played on other Minecraft servers', and you can give details on that question. It's not impossible, we just have a ton of other applicants.

I'd love to participate if you did another one, and I could help sometime if you'd like.

And, true, we do care about people we know. But it's also fun to watch an underdog rise up to win, like last game!

  • Can you break blocks?
  • Who makes the maps, or are they randomly generated?
  • Are there [generally] animals?
  • Are there mobs?
  • How many Gamemakers are there per match?
  • What do the Gamemakers do? (ex. spawn mobs, cause fires)
  • Does flint and steel last 4 times like in MCSG, or does it last the normal Minecraft amount? (I think around 100)
  • What happens when/if you die?
  • What types of plug-ins are installed in the Hell Games Server, if any?
  • When are the next Hell Games?

I've never seen a Hell Games before, but I would suggest waiting 1 minute after everyone is in the server (if you don't already) to reduce possible lag, do a practice-test with folks who weren't accepted into the games to make sure everything works, and don't have OP Gamermakers.

As a tribute in the Hell Games 4 I'll be helpful and answer some.
1. Nope.

2. Team Elite I believe, the terrtain is usually difficult to get around and run in (To prevent long runs).
Hell Games 4 was Big mountains, Hell Games 5 was Swampy.

3. Not that I know of. A few from time to time...

4. Not that I know of. Most Hell Games don't make it into night...

5. All of them. (Not including ones that can't make it of course)

6. They CAN do the following-
-Sponsor.
-Dump lava, light fire (And yes kill you while doing so), throw poison, confuse you, etc. They force tributes closer and make corn camping impossible.

7. I don't think you get any.

8. You leave the server. Easy as that.

9. Well they are hosted on the Team Elite servers. But I think there is one custom plugin on there that supports the Hell Games.

10. I honestly don't know if they're doing another. The last few have been glitchy, unfair, and chaotic.
