Exactly. People didn't know. They weren't good at SG. Now people know the traps so they don't work. You just proved my point...
I can actually still get people with old school traps today. the 33% of people who voted no exploding podiums are the ones who realized what they are.

You can still use stuff, it just is less likely to work. And they will not add the podiums for obvious reasons. Keep in mind the polls are just to see people's opinions, Chad will always have the final say.

One huge problem is that the forums consist of more mature and players who played back in beta (not everyone).
"less loot in chest means harder games, isnt it hard enough?" vote no. Majority of those players are the ones who have 3 wins and haven't heard the reasoning behind the poll. Now were going to be stuck with idiotic ideas made my kids who vote randomly

THIS.
The problem nowadays is that people seem to want stuff handed to them on a damn plate.
Run from corn, run 10 blocks, get full iron armour, win game.
Whereas back in the Beta, you actually had to WORK to get decent armour.
Its pathetic how maps like Solar frost and freeze island get accepted, and Hungry Hills and Overgrown Arena are removed!
All because "The games last too long" That phrase shouldn't even exist in a true Survival Games community. The key is SURVIVAL. MCSG may as well be named MCPvPG and remove all the maps, and replace them with a 50 radius flatland, where everyone spawns with full iron armour, a diamond sword, 20 flint and steels, 10 god apples, a bow and 128 arrows, 12 fishing rods. The saddest thing is, that most of the community wouldn't even think about raising an objection to that.
The only thing keeping me here is the forums and the people I know here. Without them, I'd have left by now.
I really dislike it when someone makes an over exaggerated analogy that doesn't even make sense. I could say: "if people want more survival, why not spawn in an infinite world so games take days and most people will die of the extreme amount of mobs.

Doesn't make sense? In what way is it nonsensical?
Correct, its an exaggeration, an example, but it isn't nonsense.
Players these days don't want to have to put in the effort to regulate food levels and saturation, they want to have enough arrows to spam around, without worry about running out etc.
People cant be arsed to sit and play a longer game, they dont want to hunt for players, they want to be able to see the players right there and then, from corn.

You said that most of the community wouldn't even think about raising an objection to your over exaggerated analogy, which is completely false. And by your logic, my analogy also makes complete sense.

Imagine, MCSG is actually like the books with only stuff at center with a map size of like 5-10km. MCSG is not really as based on books as it was back when Map 1 came out, and that just made me cri. Everytim.

This is the same sort of thinking that spawned the electoral college in America, because the founding fathers couldn't trust the people to make an educated decision. We all know how well that turned out...

You can't accurately make a generalization saying that most ingame members are young and can't make their own decisions, it is the same sort of generalization as saying most Americans are fat and lazy. While perhaps many are, you can't just assume that the community doesn't know what they are really voting for.

If we go ignoring the polls and making the decisions for the community without their consent, many players will start to leave. People above have stated that this doesn't really matter because they aren't spending any money on the servers, but this is a shameful attitude to have towards the community. If we adopt this sort of attitude, we can expect this community to go downhill quickly.
I wasn't trying to say that the in-game community wasn't important. I also said in the post (or at least I think I did) that this isn't true for all of the server community anyways.

I agree with this thread. I always did. But I believe that it's not completely true in all cases, because of what I said.
