Have you tried playing on the update? All you have to do is hold down your sprint key to where your pinky finger can access it, and hold it down. It serves almost the same benefits as BSM (I was killing some sheep and pigs and it felt great). I think this update will create an impact on how people will PVP from now on. Strafing is now a lot easier, you can get crazy combos because your sprint isn't stopping, getting fishing rod stuns are harder, etc, etc. You may make the argument that everyone will have the same update and advantages so nothing will change, but the way people will use it to their advantage to do new things will change.

It will most definitely effect PvP, just not at the level that BSM did.

I have yet to download 1.7. is there a default key that this is set to? Or do I have to set it myself?

Just sayin', if you hold the Ctrl button for sprinting, it's exactly the same. You can't go AFK sneaking anymore, that's all.

I don't get it though, why people make such a big deal out of it. It's just a game, and at least Mojang didn't make it look like sprint hacks? You still need skill to PvP. Just the sprinting is one less worry you need to think about while fighting. New techniques will start existing.

In at least a couple of months, we are already over this BSM in Minecraft thing. It's just something you need to get used to.

BSM is in 1.7, it is almost the same. Except you need to hold a button instaed of toggling it. So just deal with it, lol.
It's actually really different, believe it or not. Read the thread now, you'll find out how.

Wellll..........
  • BSM allows you to run sideways and backwards, vanilla doesn't
  • BSM allows you to run for ever, vanilla has a 30 second timer
  • BSM allows you to press one button and sprint forever without holding it, vanilla doesn't
  • BSM allows you to press one button and stay shifted forever without holding it, vanilla doesn't

Running in different directions? That's only if the server has a certain feature installed, which is very rare because most servers don't want BSM. MCSG does not have that feature, (At least, I don't think they do. I've never checked.)
~This point doesn't really do anything on MCSG

The 30 second timer? Yeah, I just tested that... 30 seconds is an extremely long time when you're running away from someone who's right behind you - Plenty of time to, y'know... hit that sprint key again. Or you can just hold it, if you have it set to a convenient key.

Sprinting forever without holding it? I intend to just set it to my Shift key (And switch my Sneak to R or F) and hold it down. It's a lot easier for me to reach. If I were to keep it set to Left Control, it would distort my regular PvP finger positioning, so that's why Minecraft allows you to change where the keys are, to set it to what's comfortable for you - So I really, really don't mind holding it down often! (I have a disorder similar to OCD or something that if I don't press down the shift key for a certain amount of time, I'll get a headache... even if I'm not near my computer. That's how much Minecraft I play :p)
~This point doesn't really do anything on MCSG, if done correctly.

Eternal sneaking? Yeah, uh... some people have bad keyboards, and can just jam the button in, go afk to get some food, and when they come back they'll still be hiding from that one person on the other side of the wall. I have a friend, Squadala1000, who can push his laptop trackpad button in, and make it stick - So he can sit at a Cobblestone generator on Skyblock for hours and just mine while AFK.
There's also the old option of putting a heavy object on your keyboard, or using some other funny method.
~This point doesn't really do anything on MCSG (But I know not everyone can get this to work, but likewise not everyone has BSM!)

I know some of this stuff is conditional, like not everyone loves to press their shift key :p, but I'm just trying to show.. wait, what was I trying to show again? Gah, I keep forgetting the main topic after I've written a huge amount ;-; hopefully you know what I was writing.

I'm not an advocate of BSM (I don't like it, in other words) In fact, it just makes my job of killing people that much harder. I'm just trying to clear up some stuff, like many others.

1. Not all people have bad keyboards

2. The yellow part has nothing to do with my second point.
