I recently created a new channel, and I was wondering if anyone had experience making videos, and had any good tips.

Some tips that I have found/seen to be helpful:
  1. Good Quality Recording Device: It's always helpful to have a good quality recorder because I know I don't like watching a bad quality video.
  2. Commentary: I know that I dislike listening to a video which isn't very interesting to listen to. I know since you are beginning you-tuber your commentary won't be great, but as time goes on you will get better. Something that might help in the beginning is choose a topic to talk about during the video and talk about.
  3. Lag: This may be something that is out of control with your computer, but if possible try to reduce lag when recording because no one likes watching a laggy video.
  4. Don't Give Up: it is going to be hard getting started at first. It is always a struggle for everyone. Just don't give up. The good you tubers are the ones who were able to get through the struggles that they experienced in the begging.
I may have left somethings out but this is all I can think of at the moment. I am sure there are other things that can help you, but these things should help! Good luck with starting up your youtube.

I am trying a new style of videos to make mine unique. No commentary, but instead lots of editing to make it action packed. I also have music.

I like your idea. If you aren't going to have commentary, you could at least have music.

- Commentary is recommended. I find watching videos with music quite boring actually. I would suggest to only put music in if its a short video, such as a montage.

- Be good at what your doing. Nobody wants to watch someone who dies a lot. Try to upload games where you win/get close to winning.

- Don't lag. If you get anything over 30 FPS while recording, you should be fine. If you lag, however, try to lower the settings or play in a smaller window.

- Background noise. If your computer is in a noisy spot in a house, try to record when nobody is home.

- As Cupcake said, NEVER, EVER give up. I got my first real subscriber after a whole month of uploading videos every 1-2 days. Now I am at 2,500.

I wouldn't call myself the best youtuber out there, but these are just some things that I thought might help :)

Lag is no issue for me, and I am trying to keep my videos short. I speed up or skip the boring parts, and I only upload action packed matches. I am a fairly decent editor, so I can take some good time off of the videos, while still showing the story of the match.

I'd recommend commentating. Sure you could do montages and videos with music, but it's not the same. If you commentate, your channel will have a personal touch and people will begin to like you.

Here are some things that are keys to having a good channel. (Not that I'm not the master of YouTube, but hopefully the following things help you out)

1) A good recording device. The one you're using at the moment seems good enough. When recording your voice make sure there's no background noise and that your voice is the right volume. Do some test recordings before doing a real recording and uploading it.

2) Have fun at what you're doing and be enthusiastic. No one wants to listen to someone who sounds depressed. Act like you're having fun because you are having fun! Don't be too hard on yourself if you're not too confident when you first start. If you look at my really early videos I'm sorta quiet and not very enthusiastic. Now I'm the complete opposite. Give yourself time and try your best.

3) Try to do something different each video. I'm trying to do this myself. If every video is just the same thing; win survival games, it's going to get kind of boring. Add some variation to your channel. Discuss different topics, play different maps, do different challenges. Maybe even do other Minecraft videos such as Survival or mini-games, just to break up the survival games videos.

4) Channel Branding. Your channel is called "Minecraft Survival Games", I don't think that's a good idea. Your IGN is arsenalfcgunners, try making your channel name something related to that. ArsenalMC, GunnersMC, ArsenalGunners, etc. They are all good options. Make sure you get a good channel banner made as well as good looking thumbnails. If I search for something and one of the videos has a nice looking thumbnail and one doesn't, I usually watch the one with the thumbnail. Art that you pay for is usually a lot better than free art, there are loads of talented people on the MCSG forums that you can order from.

5) Upload regularly. Set yourself a goal on how much you want to upload. I used to upload more regularly but now my goal is to upload at least 1-2 videos a week. You may have other commitments (school, work, sport, etc), that's okay. Just try to upload as much as you can.

Hopefully this helps, good luck! :)

I am going for one video a day. I am very busy with school, but I can record several episodes over the weekend, and schedule the uploads. This will probably be way to much for me to handle, but I will see how it goes. So far not having to many problems, although todays video was only like 12 seconds of a horse getting ambushed. (Since I had no other things to upload because I just started recording. However, I have videos scheduled all week now, and are actually full matches, or one is going to be a chest route video. There are reasons for not having the channel have anything to do with my username to start out with. But, with the new Google+ pages linked to Youtube channels, I will be able to change the channel name at a latter stage, unlike how it use to work. (Just like Dairy Queen was able to change his channel name when he changed his MC name.)

Will start commentating in a few years if everything goes well, but don't have the time, desire, and resources to do quality commentating.

And, as for a variety of content, I will probably record MCTF2 once it returns.

Oh, and I am pretty satisfied with my home made channel art for now. As for thumbnails, maybe eventually, but for now I think I will put that effort into my videos instead.

Great advice though!!! Will think about it some more. I think all your points are worth thinking about.

A few years!?! So you're going to upload daily videos for several years without commentating? If I were you I'd try to do some commentaries a bit before then.
