Thats really not true. Sure, they're are plenty who do so, but just because they have a good ratio doesn't mean they do that. I don't do that on Aezlurr and I have a good ratio. Mr_Smaha has a godlike ratio, and I know for a fact that he is just amazing. I feel like you may just be saying that because you can't get a ratio that high because of your 'terrible' internet.
Wait doesn't Mr_Smaha hack. His original account was permabanned.

I swear about 30% of my games I used to play I either got teamed (playing solo), or died a stupid way..

Orly? Because I remember recording the game that got him banned.
Orly. He has even stated not being under ownership of the accout. He gave it too his friend. Mr_Smaha can go into more detail if he wants.
Ok This is not the point of the Thread. Stop and Move on. If you really want to knw you have to ask him personally as I am not allowed to say.

I don't consider my ratio bad at 30%, but a good one I think is 40%-60%

If you look at those games (check who was in them and such) you would see that most high server games are Rebels/Aviate FFA's.

Notice how I said I wasn't going to call you bad or anything? That thought did cross my head so I wasn't going to use it as a point against you.

Also, I know Mr_Smasha before he played on MattAldridge. He doesn't have a very clean past. Still nonetheless a sick guy (And introduced me to narwhals, he inspired me and the 'narwhal trend' started. xD)

Anyone with a win ratio better than 1 in 8 is pretty good. Better than 1 in 4 and you're a very good player.

That said, W/L ratios are not a very good indication of your skill level. It took me a while to realize this.

There are several factors that can decrease your W/L. There are two things that have made my W/L ratio significantly worse than it could be. Firstly, playing with a friend. I used to play with a guy who was simply not very good at survival games. Every time he died I would not continue the game, I would /kill and join another game with my friend. I did this hundreds of times.

The second reason is playing in big teams. Playing in a large team often has made me get less wins and less kills. The more people I am teaming with the less likely I am to win. Especially when one of them is a skilled player who I find extremely difficult to kill in DM, if it was in fact only me and him.

The majority of players with extremely good ratios are players who "try-hard" a term used to define a serious and professional style of play. A "try-hard" player mainly plays to win and obtain good statistics. This will include not playing in big teams, not playing a game if there is another good player in the game, not teaming with someone who can beat you in DM, etc. The majority of half-decent players could "try-hard" and get a very good W/L ratio.

In no way am I saying all players with good W/L ratios use the tactics in the above paragraph. I am simply saying that using the tactics above will most likely improve your W/L ratio, and "try-harding" is not an uncommon thing among players with good W/L ratios. But of course there are tons of players who are just damn good.

In my opinion Gravey4rd is underrated. I hear a lot of people say "He sucks at PvP" "He's not even that good" Look at his recent 50 games, you can not win that much without being an extremely good player.

Even still, just because of those, it doesn't make it that hard to win. To be honest, if I were to do a FFA with Phoenix (without them targeting me off spawn) I could say without being arrogant win at least 3-4 games out of 5-6.

Majority of people with good w/l play majority of their games safely, try to reduce as many risks as possible while they play extremely strategically. It's the main way people win games. Many people like stated previously have good ratios because of alts. Would you have a good ratio on Bloodlights if you hadn't played on TorchScar first? Correct. Many people that do have a good ratio on their main account were actually decent and knew how to play before they started (other PvP, or faction servers) and evolved their strategies even more than before (fishing rod etc.). They must of known the basic mechanics of the sword and bow. In a matter of fact I didn't know that you could block with a sword or what flint and steel was. I'm assuming majority of the people in the top 100 with good ratios knew how to play strategical PvP (excluding myself, it could be way better then what it is).

It's not to much of a ramble of what it could be, however many members I know (including myself and Darkrai) had horrible ratios ~1/10 1/15 ratios, but know look at how much we've improved and the way our ratio has changed to. I'm now winning at least 3/5 of my games and changing my ratio bit by bit.

However, as Darkrai stated, some guys with good ratios do either win boost (cough flabbypenguin cough) or go around in large teams just to feed and it gives them a good ratio in the process, and I've seen it myself. That's why I'm out to prove that I don't need a team to win by leaving Phoenix, because people in AU just happened to always see me in a team, and I've currently proved them wrong.

As for what I consider a quite a good ratio (with at least 300 wins) around %40.
