A sad betrayal story

I was playing a game today, and I had a wood axe. A player was looting some stuff on the ground, so I with my 3000 points yelled yolo and attacked. I got about 5 good hits before he started hitting me, I got down to three hearts so I started running, he said team, in desperation I said, "yes, give me a stone sword." He dropped on the ground a stone sword and full iron armor, and backed away. I took it and carefully but it on. However, I don't like when teams attack me, so I rarely team, and when I do only with friends (because i always get betrayed). So I attacked him, got several hits and had 7 hearts still, and he started running. Then the human part of me kicked in, I started feeling sick and just couldn't find the desire to finish him off, so I stopped and started apologizing in the chat, rightfully so he did not trust me, he turned around and got a good 4 hits on me, I didn't swing once, I just started running. I decided I wasn't going to kill him, and was just going to run, eventually he got me. With the stuff I had at the time I died, (which included a diamond) I would say 80% chance I win, because I almost always win when I don't do too many yolos in one game, and I had decent stuff thanks to this guy. I don't want this to ever happen again, how do you guys think I should of handled it after he dropped the stuff on the ground?

I can never get myself to straight out betray others. I don't think I ever have in mcsg. The closest I ever come to betraying was letting them die when they were in a fight and I didn't want to have to fight them later. A couple times a long while ago, I 'accidentally' shot them while they were fighting. Never killed them though. Just sped up their inevitable death.

Dor me it's simple if they wanna team with me in a game i betray them(unless it's a girl). If they wanna team with me in the lobby i never betray.
