Fingers can't reach number keys

So lately I've been trying to get better at using hotkeys rather than just scroll. But my fingers just don't seem to be able to reach the number keys very easily without having to really stretch my fingers and shift my hand. I don't like this because I like everything to be within easy reach of my fingers so I can instantly hit it. Any suggestions?

Get a mouse with macros.

If you get a gaming mouse you can have the buttons on your mouse. Unfortunately my scroll wheel doesn't work well for scrolling in minecraft so I rely on my long fingers. I don't have a gaming mouse either so I know I'm not too much help on this subject.
