the only reason why bsm isnt allowed is because it gives an unfair advantage of people who dont use it, it also breaks when you hit someone so its not bad...
This is what I have been saying. Everyone will now have the choice to use it. Not a select of people.

Fun fact: Fishing rods don't work on other players unless CraftBukkit (Or an alternative - I know very little about the details.) is installed on the server, and without even looking it up, I'm almost sure there isn't a stable Bukkit build for the snapshot.

It's probably just that: A rumor. Someone tried it on multiplayer without bukkit installed and it didn't work, thus they got the wrong idea. You could also try it on a vanilla server with your friends in the current version and it won't work there, either.

Despite this, though, I wouldn't be surprised if this did happen. Ever since I heard the news they were overhauling the fishing system in the game, I've thrown out the idea a few times it could happen. If it does, it'll be interesting, actually. 1.6 threw swords doing a half a heart more damage than before, new golden apples, as well as regening costing hunger at us, and 1.7 is going farther with sprinting...With the significant lack of PvP I've been doing since 1.6, it'll be like learning a whole new combat system again for me. Maybe that's a good thing, actually...but at the same time, it bothers me, because I'm almost sure most of the people over there at Mojang don't realize how heavily small changes like bindable sprint will revolutionize the whole of PvP environments, nor do I think they would have the slightest comprehension of how heavily fishing rods actually have an effect on more "professional" PvP environments, which is quite understandable. They simple aren't in enough communities to know how much changes like these actually mean to a lot of people, even outside of MCSG. (A lot of popular Minecraft servers these days are based around PvP.) I honestly doubt any member of Mojang put too much thought on how either of these kinds of changes would have any effect on PvP. (As a side note: Because fishing rods hitting players is a Bukkit thing, I doubt Mojang could actually do anything about it. If this is the case, blaming Mojang for it wouldn't actually be appropriate, blame the Bukkit team. I'm just wording this post as if Mojang could have something to do with it, which they theoretically could if they did a bit more overhauling to the system than they actually did.)

Edit: Also, guys...the creator of the thread, clearly said "it's a rumor", and he's asking if anyone can confirm...it's not the end of the world. ._.
