Picture this: You're wondering around breeze island. You missed the spawn chests, because you got punched away. All of your normal routes someone beat you to. You wonder around aimlessly for a while and you stumble upon a chest. You're sure it's been taken, but alas, there's one item carelessly left behind: A clock.
Fast forward, you've just won the games. You were able to craft a diamond sword and boots, and found loads of food and arrows. Why? All because you found the clock.
A compass would have had a similar effect.
I believe there's only one solution to this problem: Take both items out of the game. It is the only sensible solution. Just about every other game I play, I witness someone winning the game because of the clock or compass they found early on.
It's not like there's nothing to replace them to however. Glass bottles and lapis lazuli are good replacements, if maybe a little OP as well.
