Not exactly. I once found 3 diamonds, an iron helm, and a gold chestplate in a tier 1 chest in map 2.

Luckiest day ever. Also convenient when a guy with an iron sword is hunting you down.

Also, in response to this thread, yes. There will always be 1-2 diamonds at the cornucopia, and an unlikely event where it will appear in tier 2 chests, and even more rare in tier 1 chests. If you're lucky, you can craft diamond armor. (At most boots, but I saw a guy with a diamond chestplate)

not possible. that chest was tier 2.... -_- And diamonds only appear in tier 2 chests. also all items are randomized so there won't always be diamonds in the corn. i've been to the corn where it's had 4 diamonds and i've been and found none at all.

Might I ask, how do you know what tier chests are? I know that the one on top of the clock tower is probably a tier 2 chest, seeing as I often get a diamond, cooked food, swords, armour, etc in it. Not all at the same time, of course. Also, I often get clocks in it. I like that sense of humor.

You're either lying or luckily some guy randomly placed all his items in a chest. Which I reeaally doubt.

No it's quite possible, just very, very, unlikely. And it was a tier 1 chest, on one of the skyscrapers.

And I don't understand why you would put diamonds and armor in a chest, but I'm going to guess I am either really lucky or a bug where cornucopia chests are mixed up with regular chests. I think the reason why it's more common in tier 2 chests is because you get more stuff.

Either way, never underestimate the powers of tier 1 chests.

I always wondered how people know which is which. I usually go with the "find a weapon and kill" technique... But it would be nice to know which chests are the "Tier 2" ones.

The only one I know for sure is in Map 2 on top of the hospital helicopter pad. I almost never see anyone go for it either. My favorite chest.
