Does jump attacking make you get hit more?

Does jump attacking help or not? Does it make you get hit easier? What are the advantages and disadvantages to jump attacking?

When you jump attack you have a higher chance of inflicting a critical hit thus dealing more damage to the enemy.
A disadvantage I've noticed is that if you fail to land the hit and he hits you instead you hit back quite a distance causing you to take damage while he/she lands a free hit.

You inflict more damage whilst falling (thus the short fall in jumping), and you inflict more knockback when sprinting.

It is quite risky to jump in a fight, as it puts you in the air which can send you flying. I tend to jump as i enter a fight then just stick to strafing.

That sounds so... dark.

When you jump and hit, you'll get critical hits, by critical i mean more powerful hits; instead of doing 2 heart damage, you can be able to do 3 heart damage with a stone sword. I can be dangerous because if you jump in the wrong occasion, you will be stepped back flying and you will be inflicted way more damage, I wouldn't recommend you to do it, instead as a better tactic do strafing and click as fast as you little fingers can handle it.
