Due to me being slightly inactive (due to my computer being taken away) and having to give UpdatinStatus tips on how to lead, I've decided to share some tips with everyone.
#1 - When being a leader of a clan, you yourself should take responsibility of all your members actions. Do not allow your members to do something you yourself would not like to be seen doing. If your do members happen to act out, set some time to talk to the member and address the problem. Once addressing it, find a solution
#2 - Be the bigger person. When you are in an argument, you should always learn to be the one to drop it. You not only make yourself look bad when you continue an argument, you also crush the reputation of your clan. If you get mad, take some time to separate yourself, calm down, then return to what you need to do.
#3- Get close with the people you are leading. Try to form a bond between you and the next person. What I personally do is try to call any member by their real name. Not only does this show that I care about who they are as a person, it helps to get their attention quicker.
#4 - Be generally a nice person to your members. Of course there are times when you have to be strict, but as much as you can treat your members the right way and also treat them the way you would expect someone else to treat you.
#5 - Listen to everyone's ideas. Do not let a single voice go unheard. Sometimes (not everytime
) a really great idea will pop out of someone's mouth. Use your members ideas to improve the clan and also yourself.
#6 - Lead with authority. In battles or a scrim, take control. Be firm when you speak and make sure your instructions are clear. Make sure your members know they need to listen or there will be consequences. Be as specific as possible with instructions.
#7- Inspire and encourage. Giving a small talk to your team before a fight can really boost their adrenaline and also their confidence. Always encourage everyone. Complimenting on what people did good rather then what they do bad helps boost the performance of that single player. (But if it's a bad habit that keeps occurring then it would be a good idea to address it at a later time)
#8 - Practice, Practice, Practice. Leading in common situations everyday makes you a good leader. Also take some tips from better leaders to improve yourself. I personally just study clan war videos from particular member's perspectives so I can hear the communication.
#9 - STICK WITH IT. Many reasons why many great potential clans fail is because the leader loses motivation halfway through. Keep in mind that every clan goes through a slow point or a time where you feel disbanding is better than continuing (believe me I've been there). But always stick with it. Give your clan a chance to grow. Just like a plant. Nurture it and constantly care for it and it will grow beautifully.
#10 - Once you hit a certain point you will be faced with a decision. I like to call it Friends or Fame. Once you hit this particular point, you will notice that in order to be a better clan, you have to cut a few of your friends in order to improve. Some people choose fame and their clans disband shortly after. Some people choose friends and the clan is fun, but it never goes anywhere and it disbands. The trick is to find the perfect balance and I'm not going to lie, it's very difficult.
That's all I have to say for now. It's pretty late and I'll probably add more to it later. Anyways I hoped I help
