I was playing on Demon's Breeze when I ran into a play saying that it's illegal for me to be using The Master's Sword. I was confused by this, as I legitimately got it and I know of many others who got it. Then he stated that he got banned for a week for obtaining it and using it.

So my question is, is this a legal weapon? I figured it was, but maybe I'm wrong.

As darkrai said, if you get it legit by throwing items into the slot like in the real game then it's legal... But if someone catches you with it and the door thingy is closed then it's not allowed

That sword has absolutely nothing on it that's going to give you an advantage, so it should be fine. If someone got banned for a week for using it that is ridiculous.
