This also isn't exactly related to the OP, but...

Another thing I think ought to change is who decides the tiering of a map. Since the tiering has such a great bearing on the eventual popularity of a map (just look at Holiday Resort- I doubt it would be so popular without the ridiculous number of tier 2s), I think the map maker(s) should be able to denote what they think should be tier 2s, which can then be moderated by a staff member to check they make some sort of sense. Imagine going through all the effort of making a map just for it to be let down by poor tiering- it'd be pretty disappointing.
The Map Committee has already decided to re-tier poorly tiered maps :3 It will be done in the near future hopefully

Fallen Haven- There's an issue with the map that causes it to crash in pre-game. People don't vote it because they literally cannot play it if it's over 18 players (It does't crash if it's in the narrow range of 12-18 players). Most players don't know that it doesn't crash with under 19 players though so they automatically assume that it crashed all the time. We're currently working on fixing the crashing issue.
First of all I'd just like to vouch for Tree on this. I always either don't vote for or avoid Fallen Haven. It seems like a spectacular map but it always crashes. I didn't know that it worked if you had 12-18 players.
Secondly, Tree could you please respond to Nebulousity's idea when you get the chance. I'm interested on your opinion on his thoughts.

Do you mean re-tiering as in making more tier2s/tier1s, re-tiering as making the tiers deserving? (Like having a tier2 after an annoying parkour, which I personally find very aggravating when I get a leather cap). Will you also add crafting tables / enchanting tables to maps that need it?

I've seen you respond to similar threads in which I've already explained reasoning for a few of those. It doesn't really seem that you remember.... Nonetheless, I'll go over it again.

Vida Cova- Attempt to bring back the survival aspect of MCSG. There were threads made with petitions to bring back the survival aspect. So, excuse us for attempting to please everyone.

Remnant- This one added mainly because of it's looks to be honest. Also, it was built by FyreUK who, as everyone knows, are very beneficial to these servers.

Origins- It's actually quite popular. It may not be the most voted but it's definitely one of the favored ones so I don't see where you're coming from there.

Lobby Games- "Voted pretty often, but not incredibly popular" .....uh, so what you're saying is that a map that is voted often (Usually people vote for maps because they want to play them) isn't liked.... I'll leave that at that since I believe it's self-explanatory.

Fallen Haven- There's an issue with the map that causes it to crash in pre-game. People don't vote it because they literally cannot play it if it's over 18 players (It does't crash if it's in the narrow range of 12-18 players). Boombeard's Battle- Same as Lobby Games, your argument is not valid.
To be quite honest with you I actually love most of the maps that the Map Committee has chosen thus far.. with the exception of:
Fallen Haven - This is just because of the bug that occurs which causes the map to crash so I have not been able to play..

Remnant - though it is quite beautifully made the gameplay is quite lacking...

Vida Cova - Though I do love the survival aspect of MCSG and I also do think that this is a pretty decent map but honestly not the best when it comes to capturing the survival aspect of MCSG in my opinion.

Also, I'd also like to add that these maps seem to be very popular within the "In-game community" who are never on the forums. I'd also like to add that what he was referring to when he said it is "quite often voted, but not incredibly popular" he was probably implying that it is only voted often when the other options are even worse and let's face it there are far worse options that are available... for example TSG3

What's wrong with TSG3? It plays and looks beautifully.

Tbh I'm a little disappointed in seeing this kind of thread from you dq, I'm away ATM so my responses will be limited (if anyone replies to me ) for one your research on the matter seems a little poor, there are two members from each big trusted team on the committee and having multiple teams helps to stop bias from the committee, for example I personally don't like all the maps which other committee members have made, so when it comes to my vote I will vote against. I doubt we could ever have a system where the community votes as for some maps there are reasons why they cannot be added which the community cannot know as they are private matters concerning my gamer and the sir staff ( don't ask what these are since obv we can't say?) we do listen to the community and add maps which hit the standard mcgamer is looking for, obviously there is a delay for maps being added as we cannot instantly put maps on the servers, it takes a while to get through the system, and there are multiple other things the snr staff and devs have to worry about than getting new maps up. Personally I would like to see more gratitude towards the committee as we do put a lot of our time into helping out the servers, obviously we can't do everything the community wants but we do our best, many people say " we know what the community wants" but I would say the 9 or so of us who have been around on these servers for a long time have a lot of experience with the community and know just as much what the community wants, so maybe next time post something positive on the forums rather than dragging the view of the community down with negativity

I will give you guys props for this one. Perhaps 10% of players wanted a survival aspect and voted for the map every time they saw it. The problem is that 10% of the vote doesn't win often.

Remnant- This one added mainly because of it's looks to be honest. Also, it was built by FyreUK who, as everyone knows, are very beneficial to these servers.
No comment, know nothing about the map.

Origins- It's actually quite popular. It may not be the most voted but it's definitely one of the favored ones so I don't see where you're coming from there.

Pretty unique map but a deathmatch arena would be nice.

Lobby Games- "Voted pretty often, but not incredibly popular" .....uh, so what you're saying is that a map that is voted often (Usually people vote for maps because they want to play them) isn't liked.... I'll leave that at that since I believe it's self-explanatory.

The map is alright, I don't personally like it because I think that the void really detracts from the gameplay.

Fallen Haven- There's an issue with the map that causes it to crash in pre-game. People don't vote it because they literally cannot play it if it's over 18 players (It does't crash if it's in the narrow range of 12-18 players). Never played this so no comment.

Boombeard's Battle- Same as Lobby Games, your argument is not valid.

While my opinions on this map don't really matter (I don't like it), I think that it should be fair. Remove the boats please, it puts some players at a severe disadvantage when your boat is out of reach.

It's all about that personal preference basically so I will admit that it may have been a bit biased for me to list that as a bad map so excuse me for that..

That's the exact stuff we'd do :3 I'm actually going to start making a list of stuff I think should be fixed/re-tiered on each map.

I'd also like to add that what he was referring to when he said it is "quite often voted, but not incredibly popular" he was probably implying that it is only voted often when the other options are even worse and let's face it there are far worse options that are available... for example TSG3
Even if he does mean it this way (which is very possible), it shows that the map is favored over others. It doesn't make sense why he would complain about a map which is favored over quite a few others....

My comments are in the post quote
For both the issues you listed (dm arena on Origins and boats on Boombeards), they have already been fixed :p We just haven't updated the servers with the fixed versions yet.

Though this may be a bit unrelated to the main point of discussion I feel like I might as well give a suggestion that I've been thinking of for quite some time now..

I always felt that they could parody what they did with the PMC contest, by this I mean have test servers in which they can put in maps that has received a lot of good feedback, this in my opinion would be a win-win as players can get maps that they prefer and they know for a fact are good and the staff team would get praise for making the effort to get users' opinions on a map before implementing it.
Though I may not have that much knowledge of how the map committee works nor do I know how great of a plan this could end up being in the long run I just felt like I might as well..
(I know I didn't go into much detail but w/e)
Sorry for responding kinda late. I wanted to cover the issue on the thread first :3 This idea has been discussed in a meeting before. I do like the idea of it, the only issue with it is that more servers would have to be bought. With the servers, we'd need to attract enough people to donate to cover the costs so that it doesn't cause MCGamer to continuously lose money so that it'd have to close some of them.
Nonetheless it is a good idea, it's something we've discussed and still plan on discussing to work out the details.

Also a point a lot of people are seeming to miss here is that the committee is part of the community, we play just like everyone else and some of us e.g. Me and kezzer are open for people to come and tell us their map suggestions, so it isn't like we aren't listening to the community, just be patient and wait for the updates

This could just be nostalgia, but I remember the PMC servers having more players online then other less visited areas (CA/others I think?). Also couldn't you do a poll asking if people would like this. There are a lot of locations with empty servers in them (I think), so couldn't you just use these servers to test out if people like it and if those fill up, actually buy servers for this?
