Okay. So, you want average people who can just about moderate to be accepted? Alright, so now time is being spent reviewing their application, giving them their interview, and teaching them about being a moderator if they are accepted. This time could have been spent with other, much more experienced applicants.

Great, we have a bunch of mods who don't really have any idea what they're doing. Now, we have to dedicate our time correcting their mistakes, and teaching them absolutely everything. Uh oh! They just wrongly banned a "popular" player for Better Sprint. People are complaining on the forums about how anybody can get mod nowadays, and how the MCGamer staff is of a very low quality. Now, time that could be spent hiring good staff has to be spent dealing with this drama.

Do you see where this is going? Instead of hiring mediocre staff, it is always best to invest the time in looking for the best staff possible. 10 brilliant moderators will beat 100 average moderators any day of the week.

We don't want to accept anyone that wouldn't be fit for the job. There aren't a to of people that are. Applications are open. It's not our problem if not enough people apply.

You also need to help. We all need to report hackers and other people breaking the rules.

I understand but they should be a bit more open to application. Not that open, just a bit :). I do report people when i record for my youtube but most people are too lazy to do it, i am guilty that i don't report every single hacker i come across

Also, @iDoodleABC, please refrain from posting multiple times in a row. I have merged your posts where this has happened together.

I don't want average people to be accepted, all i want is for the applications to be a bit more lenient and accept more people, im not saying i want the standards of mods to drop, i just want more, thats all :).

Oh i think better sprint is actually against the rules though, im not sure. Its gonna be in 1.7 anyway :)

I agree with your point, i don't want loads of mods that don't know what they are doing hahaha. Still, i have a few friends that play daily and are mature, they won't just ban someone if they get killed.

Thanks for your opinion anyway :)

So we are in agreement then? Don't lower our standards, but hire more mods, right?

You may as well ask me to clap my hands without using my hands. How would we increase the number of moderators on staff without lowering our standards in some way? It's irrelevant anyway, this is not an issue of our staff quantity.

In some areas such as EU, staff quantity is an issue that we work to resolve every day. Other regions, such as AU and US have plenty of moderators to adequately moderate. Assuming that there is an issue in those regions, it's because the workforce isn't being spread properly. Perhaps mods are sticking to the lower numbered servers instead of spreading out? I don't know.

You mentioned that if you put forth the effort to record and report every hacker you came across, you may as well just be a mod. There is so much more to being a moderator than banning players. We expect moderators to be extremely helpful people, full of initiative, with the skills to solve any problem that they may come across in a satisfactory manner, with all of our rules known like the back of their hands. Not every player who is capable of reporting is also capable of the many other responsibilities of the job, but if you really want to help the community, that shouldn't matter. Who knows, maybe after a few months of reporting and learning the rules, you would be ready for a true staff position.

I'm afraid there isn't any more speeding up that can be done with the hiring process. The best way to keep the servers clean is to record and report yourself. If you can't manage that, download teamspeak and join our official teamspeak server (ts.mcsg.in). We always have a multitude of helpful staff on teamspeak who can be in a server to deal with a hacker at a moments notice. Just let them know all of the relevant information and let them deal with it for you.

Since that's really the only answer that we can give on this topic, there isn't much more room for discussion in this thread. Not to mention, there have been quite a few threads with this topic already, so you are welcome to search those up and read our responses there if you would like further answers.
