My spear idea: as a melee weapon, it has slightly higher reach, but lower damage than the sword. It can be thrown for higher damage than a now, but must be retrieved if you want to use it again.I think they should have spears but they would deal a lot more damage than bows and you throw them
Hrm, if it had higher reach then it would just about always beat sword. You could stay comfortably away from the enemies attacking range and still do damage. It would be like when you fight someone who is above you on a hill, or when you swim under someone. The catch would be significantly lower attack. A much smaller damage output could help balance it.Hrm, if it had higher reach then it would just about always beat sword.
