Well technically if you sneak then press ALT then ALT again you stay in sneak until you press shift again. The same works for running. It's not quite the same but It's basically just as good and since everyone has the ability to do it on vanilla minecraft it's not cheating.

Yeah, the argument could be made, also you can just set it to caps lock, but I'm not sure... it seems pretty cheap although most people can do it with vanilla
