Let's face it, for the solo player Survival Games is nowhere near as enjoyable as it used to be. Teams have always existed, but they used to be manageable, as the better players generally had the respect not to just go around gang banging everyone together. Nowadays, you get the horrible type of teams that literally never separate just to ensure you have no chance of fighting one of them on their own- 'butt buddy teams' as cscoop would have it. Worst of all, thanks to the meteoric rise in popularity of MCSG youtubers who are actually good at the game, these kind of teams tend to know what they're doing. Sometimes, no matter how well you play, they simply are unbeatable, which is frankly stupid, and takes all the fun out of the game. If you know there's a stacked butt buddy 3 team at corn who know what they're doing and you don't have a ridiculous number of arrows and flint and steel, you might as well give up. And when you give up, that's when SG stops being fun- the excitement of there being a chance for you to win is the essence of MCSG and something we are all familiar with, and without it SG is boring and frustrating.
The apparent solution to this is to fight fire with fire and team yourself. And what does that lead to? An even worse experience for the solo player. The way I see it, we are in some kind of vicious cycle of teaming, and having any success while playing solo will soon be something of the past. The solution to this, imo, is empathy. What people lack when they go around in butt buddy teams is the realisation that the player they are gang banging is in fact another human being who is also looking for a fun experience playing MCSG. However, the team's competitiveness and raging desire to win the game trumps this, and so they continue their teaming ways. Everyone seems so hyper-competitive nowadays that you even see alt accounts being used to boost a friend's wins / ratio, because for them to lose a game on their main account would be simply unbearable.
Please don't get me wrong though. I'm not saying you should never play with friend, because that too is a big part of what makes MCSG fun. I play with friends most of the time, just we tend to go our separate ways and only meet up to take on other teams and hackers. So please, next time you're a team, consider the experience of all the other players, and imagine what it would be like to be on the receiving end. If everyone did this, I believe MCSG would be a better place.
