Do you really want to find gold armor in a Teir 2? When finding a teir 2 you are looking for Iron or Chain armor, not gold.

Chainmail armor is equal to gold armor, except the chainmail pants do 1/2 a armor bar more. And durability really doesn't matter in MCSG. I do find gold armor pretty valuable because of this.

I find myself wearing gold armor and it breaking, even though its quite rare for that to happen. If gold armor was added to teir 1's it wouldn't be as common as Leather. I just think that most MCSG maps are over powered and adding gold armor could make teir 1's better.

But they wouldn't be in every chest. Gold armor isn't OP and should be taken out of Teir 2's.

I think it would be a good idea, as long as it is incredibly rare. I still think its dumb how on Hive tier ones have a high chance of gold and chain armor and tier twos only give iron armor and no other types of armor (from what I've seen, I may be wrong.)

Maybe like 1 piece of gold armor in every two tier 1's?
