Hello, MCSG. On Friday, October 25th, 2013, Minecraft 1.7 will be released. Along with this new update comes something that many of us PvPers have been hoping will never be added, a sprint hot-key. If you guys didn't know this, please stop worrying know, it's not that bad. It does add a few affects that can change PvP easily, like you can keep on running while in combat, and keep on running after hitting a block instead of wobbling, but it's nothing like BSM*, except for what I just mentioned. Also note that this will not be removed as many admins have already told us because it's a part of vanilla Minecraft.

BSM vs. Vanilla: The Differences

  • BSM allows you to run sideways and backwards, vanilla doesn't
  • BSM allows you to run for ever, vanilla has a 30 second timer
  • BSM allows you to press one button and sprint forever without holding it, vanilla doesn't
  • BSM allows you to press one button and stay shifted forever without holding it, vanilla doesn't

Now I'd just like to say that if you have been perma-banned because of using BSM, you will not be unbanned when 1.7 is released, because I just clearly stated that it still makes a difference. Same goes for downloading BSM, you're still not allowed to download it.

TL;DR: BSM is not allowed, and 1.7 is way different then BS.

Thank you for reading, bye now.

*BSM is short for Better Sprint Mod
I don't know If you have tried the new Sprint feature in 1.7.2 but it is exactly the same as the hold feature in BSM. The hold feature in BSM allows you to hold one key and whenever you hold it you will always be sprinting, which is exactly the same as the new 1.7.2 Vanilla sprint feature. You hold LControl and you will always be sprinting even when you hit someone your sprint will restart instantly. So, with this being the case it is now basically impossible to distinguish between BSM and Vanilla minecraft.

I know that, I always did.

One thing that's ignored about this is that there IS a difference!
It's extremely slight, yes, but there is that split second difference.

In a hypothetical fight between two opponents with EXACTLY the same skills, strategy, and whatnot, the person with 0 delay would have a very, very slight advantage, while the person with 0.1 delay would be slower. Its an uber tiny difference, yes, but then again so is the chance of people killing each other at the same time - and yet it happens more often than we might think, because of things like lag!

EDIT: Or in a fight against yourself (You fight someone, record what you're doing, and then replay it - twice at one time, giving one "player" the BSM feature and the other one the Vanilla feature. Its confusing, and not realistic, so nvm that)

Also, you're entirely leaving out the feature that allows people to just sprint after pressing the key once and whatnot.

And the person who holds two keys at the same time, such as me, would be at a tiny disadvantage also because their hands are in an awkward position - Over time, however, players will get used to it, and it'll no longer be a valid point.

even though it is exactly like one of the included features
Yea but the one feature basically changes everything. The toggle option on BSM works exactly the same as the hold feature it just means you have to click the button once rather than holding it. The sprints works exactly the same way in game so you wouldn't be able to see the difference, therefore BSM might as well be allowed.

1.7 Sprint-key?
-It'll be harder to chase someone down, now that they can sprint infinitely.
-You can keep sprinting while attacking by holding your sprint-key + attacking. Q_Q.

It's harder for me to quick-switch fishing rod while holding the sprint key because I don't use the mouse-scroll. I use the hotkeys 12345.

I just don't like how attacking doesn't stop your sprint... But if you think about it, getting hit doesn't stop your sprint either... So, it's pretty even. I can get used to this.

Infinite Sprint while holding the sprint-key? Not a big fan of this at all. It just makes escaping so much easier... *sigh*
I guess I can get use to this... (You reach... IIIII TEACHHH)
This infinite sprint will make MCSG more of a "survival" style now that it's easier to escape bad situations.

Games will be longer, chasing early-game won't you anywhere unless you're stacked, chest routes are much more important now, and High-Saturation food has now become that much more important. Be aware of what you eat before starting a fight and chase away my friends!

You, sir, have pointed out some very interesting things ;)
