Okay, I am just trying to make sure that he knows that if he betrays there will be consequences and I appreciate you being open-minded to the whole situation.

I'm not trying to be on anyone's side here. I personally think that since it's his first time and that no betraying rules were in place, he should not experience any consequences. I know what he did was very disrespectful and rude, but there was no rule set in stone that it was not allowed, and no consequences set in stone either. But, consequences shall be suffered if he ever does this again.
