Ways to possibly stop "fist glitching"

How about, at the beginning of the game, players spawn with wood swords, then when the countdown hits 0 and the game actually begins, inventory wipe ^-^

The problem with that is that it would confuse the crap out of people. If I joined the servers for the first time and everyone had a sword, I'd leave and not come back.

If I recall correctly it was stated in the developer Q&A that inventories are wiped when a server restarts. :/

correct... however a simple fix would be to wipe inventory before server restart but after end of match.... that fixes the whole problem.... and then remove iron swords from lobby

Sadly what you're suggesting doesn't fix the glitch as the plugin already does this during cleanup.

Many, if not all of these things have been suggest previously, and many have already been tried by the devs.
As far as I know, the fist glitch is only going away when 1.7 comes out. Cuz apparently the fist glitch is fixed in that.

No more use talking about it, Cuz there is no reason to set up a fix if mojang is going to release a fix in a matter of weeks.

are you talking about my idea?
The server does not clear player inventory before kicking... it just kicks ppl... If you clear all living players inventory before kicking it would fix the glitch... i've tested it on my own server

I've mentioned this to @Forairan and he said the plugin clears your inventory during cleanup.
A way I think that could fix this would be, when you win and the game finished, all your inventory is replaced with Cake.
Removed the sword.. and you have cakes you can place down to celebrate
