What Happened to Saplings (eu28)?

I just remembered back to my first days of MCSG, back in 2012 on Saplings (eu28). At that time I didn't know that there were a whole lot of different servers of MCSG. Then in about October or November (just a guess) it went down and never went back up. I am just wondering, what happened to it/ Did it get deleted or something?

What was 'saplings'? Was it an EU thing?

It was a specially made server for EU I think.
It had the same plugin as MCSG.
